Title: Performance mods
Post by: Llew on May 26, 2012, 01:54:20 am
Ok I am in the latter stages of completing my cosmetic mods -- before i  continue into the expense of performance mods (
exhaust ,remap and all the others that i read About--- ) can anyone confirm if these Mods give any top end speed gains

Most engine mods will help increase the top end speed slighlty.  But you are really limited by the ratios on the gear box and the final drive ratio as to how fast the car will go.

Are  you saying with all those mods you have you drive like your driving miss daisy ?
I only put foot down on the motorway so no But I fail to understand why driving style is of import in relation to the question

....I'm only reacting and responding to your words which implied that you feel it's okay to drive 160 anywhere. Did you meam something different from what you had written? Did I misunderstand you?

I very much doubt a 2.0tdi is geared for 160, and you'll never get enough power out of it to shove it through the air and get there anyway.

You were the one who first mentioned 160 is that not so ----all I ask about mods and top end gain and you switch the direction of the topic-- so that's not my words they are yours

But let's just put it down to misinterpretation and move on.

Remap, free-flow exhaust, and aftermarket air intake would contribute to improving performance but I don't know by how much regarding a diesel TDI. The petrol 2.0T FSI would deliver more results I expect.

Yeah let's move on -thanks for your input

Cool. A remap and a decat will extend your rev range and give you a bigger more useful powerband. The standard intake will be more than adequate as will your intercooler. Leave the engine mods there and spend the rest of the money elsewhere, as you really do need to start throwing a lot of dosh at it to get more power, and you won't achieve much.

Brakes would be first on my list, they're woeful.

Completely agree!

Sort out the 'stop' before getting more 'go'  :happy2:
