Ok guys some of you might remember i had extremely poor mpg when had the car remapped, 26-27.5mpg with normal driving 50-70mph. No matter which way i drove the returns were very low and after some searching online and feedback from other members i went ahead and changed the diverter valve(dump valve) to the revised G from Vw.
After replacing the DV, honestly can say the increase in power and boost is great. Drove the car to York-1079, 60-70mph and also abit of 80-90mph and the returns were very pleasing, 35-38mpg
My old DV diaphram was not split but the new 1 make a hell of a difference.
Just a post to maybe help any1 else who feels the boost and mpg might not be what it was when you 1st bought the car (by far an expert in these matters but when you can repair your own car and save £££ from main dealers then i am happy)
So all good so far, guess as the miles go up 1 has to constantly assess what needs doing and from now on i am going make sure i upgrade or change parts if need be

Nice one, did you fit it yoursellf? and was it a tricky? (for someone who hasn't done it before)
-
what did you pay for the g?

Yes mate, got a good guide online although these are much easier on the ed30 than the standard gti. Ed30 DV is on top to the front of the engine and 3 torx size 30 bolts, unclip the electrics and all done. 10 mins all good make sure it's all flush and good fit
-
what did you pay for the g?
The G was app £38 incl from Dealer, well worth it compared to Forge price. The D piston type DV is also prone to leak
-
I replaced mine a few months ago from a "B" to a "G" because it had split, there was a huge difference in performance and mpg maybe a ccuple more, so well worth doing.
But my question is, if your one wasn't split, I don't understand how a new one made a difference? Do the DV's just get worn out?

After i had the remap the mpg was very poor and my C DV was the original from when the car was new 2007. I looked at how i could improve this and DV issues came up on searches all the time. I suppose the the diaphram was weak which could have affected the boost aswell. The boost on light throttle is great now and so is the mpg on the D DV

I paid £50 from awesome thinking I'd save money compared to the dealers

sometimes it's worth giving the dealers a call 1st and with next day pick up it works out grt for me
-

First one arrived damaged so they agreed to exchange it, it was recieved by them on a Friday and it was the following Thursday before they had botherd to contact me to ask if I wanted a refund or replacement finally got it on the Monday after

The parts guys at my local vw are clued up but i did mention the DV to the vw tech and the stupid prick did not know what i was on about :fighting:
The revision D is the piston type so keep us posted on how you get on after installing it. Very easy on the ed30
-

Bought one from TPS Bournemouth (as they call themselves... despite being in Poole) about a month ago. No problem sourcing one then.

much better mpg and pulling power on light throttle, feels like the boost kicks in earlier if you get me
-
interesting, what was your previous revision then?
-
DV C was on the car from new, the D & G are the revisions
-
Do you have the part number, or is it the same number as the D but ending in G?

Here are some pics of where the DV is located on the ed30, Took my time and got it done. Just abit of time and patience( if still not confident get someone who can, might aswell pay to get it done than damage stuff and end up with a hefty bill)

Been running the D version the last 3 years with no problems..
-
My 'D' revision lasted around 18 months, couldn't run pass 16psi (usually 24psi with present software) now running a 'G' diaphragm with a 'D' body
-
As I mentioned before, cant get a G for love nor money! :(

Are u looking for G mate? Ur local dealer should be able to order 1 in, let me know if u need 1 i'll send you the dealers no and you can order 1 from them directly. Becareful though as some companies other than vw are selling these as musch as £54 and i paid £38
-
Hi there, I did actually try my local vw dealer 1st, their parts person asking me 'whats a dump or diverter valve?' so tried every other avenue and still no joy, so unless you know a dealer who can actually get me 1 in and send it to me??
Cheers
Andrew

Is yr local dealer Doncaster btw, notice u mentioned Simon @ Vagco, lol??
-
I am in North Humberside mate, South Cave. my local VW is 10 mins from me. Jct600 vw priory park, hessle. Not sure if you can post up tel no's on here?
-
so you came all the way to see Simon in Doncaster, lol???
BTW, gave the code to my local VW dealer and have now ordered Revision G DV, so should have that Wednesday, although i then will then have both G, and D, as that came today, what a pickle!! Have read up a LOT on both these Revisions, and what Nick @ R Tech said to one side, the general consenus is that Revision G fails a lot more, ie. is not as durable, etc!!? The dilemma i now have is whether on Friday i have the G or the D fitted, as having all my mods done in next 8 days!!?? Even read some Forums from the USA and they have slated Revision G BIG TIME!!

i would go for the revision G as its the newer one... and sell the D to me
-
Isn't the Revision D newer?? Begs the question though, why would you want a D when G is apparently more suitable, lol??
-
the D is the piston type and is said to be solid but remember these are also prone to leak and you don't want that, i'd keep both and 1 as spare incase you need it again especially if you are running all those mods, high pressure boost.
-
I might as well have the Revision G fitted, see how it performs, then if that fails, switch to the D, lol!!
