It looks like it's been slapped in the face. Anyone seen it in the flesh?

maybe it's a grower

It's from Auto Express - it'll look nothing like that!
-
I hope not, it looks like a Fiat Stilo
-
Auto Express are normally pretty bad but that sets new levels. Wonder if they let the work experience lad loose on a Mac?
-
That's quite an old pic that was going around towards the end of last year.
-
yeah, i was looking more into it and i think they are from 2009!!
I just saw something in one of the car magazines today about the mk7 gti but i can't find it on the net.

the back end looks like a Kia Venga.
It will look like that, the last time they previewed the 6 coming out, they got that right
Apart from the wheels and Rear boot spoiler, it will resemble that imo
-
I'm ashamed to say that I do love the rear of that car.

.
I'm soooo glad I kept my Mk5 !!
-
side view look like a mazda 3(ish)
-
I dont mind the front although it could do with a bigger grill between the bumper and bonnet, the back has to much going on though
-
I'll be keeping the Polo if the MKVII looks like that!
-
I was going to say it looks like a big Polo!! :ashamed:

.... x 2
I was going to post exactly the same! Looks like a Mk6.5 Polo.
-
Does "BMW BANGLE" work for them now then ! Looks like his influence here
-
There's a Vauxhall Ashtray influence, too.

....Especially up on the arse. It's the straight line angular treatment.
-
I've seen the mk7 concept when doing tech fundermentals at mk and it looks nothing like that from the rear, imo the front looks like the focus a little bit, it's not as boring looking as the mk6 that's for sure
-

This. Ive seen other renderings that make it look like a large current Polo , and I think its quite nice - god knows if thats a true reflection of the real car though!

The new Astra looks really nice...

....That's very nice indeed and a lot like a Cupra.
-
the new astras do look nice. I though the focus looked quite nice until I had seen the new ST version
-
that red one looks much more like it, was a bit worried there!

Looks like they've copied the arse off of a honda civic
-
I do hope the Car Mag photos of the red Gti look like the Mk7, rather than the other pics.
But in my view they never go too radical with Golf evolution do they, VW always tend to do the opposite of Ford and not follow any angular Bangle-esque design.
Makes them boring some say, but possible kind of timeless to look at, I think the only poor Golf shape that has dated is the Mk4.
Anyone like the new Civic, I think it's ruddy terrrible mess to look at.
-
That Astra is nice but the front looks like a dolphin's face. :chicken:
-
I like the new Astra - marked improvement over the previous body shape.
With the golf mk7 i think it will be a fairly subtle change as most body shapes have been, the most radical probably being the transition from Mk4 --> mk5. Add to that the hugely homogenised corporate front all Vdubs have now and you'll probably not noticethe mk7 on the road until the 50th one has passed you a whole month after its release
-
The above red GTI looks like brilliant but should be called Mk 5.75
-
The new GTi needs to be special for sure, knowing VW there cut the weight down.......then they will drop the bhp :fighting:
-
Unlike the Mk6 not being much different from the Mk5 this is a whole new chassis the MQB.

I have high expectations of both the Golf and Octavia.

What's under the skin is a very important point, Ian :happy2: But I wonder how beneficial a modular production system is to an individual car in the range. Compromises may be more likely perhaps.
