As above my passenger Airvent, the one nearest the nearside window has started to rattle very slightly but is driving me nuts. Can anyone help me on how to cure this?
It seems to be coming from the vent surround as it stops when I put pressure on it.
-
The vents nearest the windows are an interference fit and as such just pull out, no screws holding it in. See if anything behind it rattling against it like a wiring loom or summat.
-
How do you pull it out without breaking anything?
-
Wedge it out with something thin and plastic to help you
-
Any luck? It really doesn't take much pulling, you'll be surprised.
-
Came out dead easy :happy2:
-
Did you cure the problem?
-
I had the same problem with the drivers side and used double sided stickytape.
-
I take it, using double sided sticky tape holds it in place rather than it moving about

Not yet spent all weekend at the Moto GP at Silverstone, will fix this week along with the squeak I am getting from the centre dash!

I thought my passenger vent was the cause of my annoying rattle, turned out to be a screw. If you open the passenger door and pop off the side access panel that is on the side of the dash there is a screw at the top that works loose. Tighten that up and hopefully voila! There is a thread on here somewhere all about it-which is how I found out about it

The screw in the exact same location on the drivers side is loose as well I found

Result :happy2: I took the side panel off and yes I had a loose screw!!! Tightened up and no rattle. Would suggest that in most cases this is the culprit and not the vent rattling.

Happy days :jumpmove:

I will have to check that too, im seem to get a creaking from the centre vent, on top of the dash more so when its a warm day...
-
I had this problem to, both sides were lose, so i went round tightening everything I could find.
-
When i have the air-con on, for about the 1st 10 minutes, my centre vents/dash creak like mad!! My satnav has recently been re-secured in, so i think i can rule out that!
-
Thats just the cold making things contract i think, my whole car creaks and rattles more in the winter.
-
So on the sunny days its probley swealling a bit, causing it to move...i guess.
