Few months ago I noticed a rust spot appear on the tailgate in the gap under the rear screen (directly below end of rear wiper blade), spoke to VW about it and they took pics and sent them off to VW, they called me back today to confirm that VW Germany have authorised a 100% goodwill repair, they told me it needs to be done before 1st August.
They are going need to car for a couple of days and are sorting a courtesy car for me so I am not Stranded at home without use of a car.
They are calling me back later this week to book it into their authorised repair centre, looks to me like they are going to have to remove the rear screen to get access to it. I have asked them to make sure this is repaired properly as I dont want it coming back with a patch up job!.

Doesn't surprise me, as my bootlid paint thickness is laughable. I'm hoping mine rusts , but as yet not an issue on my 56 plate Eddy.
A scratch off a postmans bag was enough to go straight through the lacquer on mine. Paint thickness's are so different, it's unbelievable.

mine has rusted under the boot handle where water sits in there.
Built like a golf.... :signLOL:

Well if they are having rear screen out I think they will be painting the whole panel, hope so as it will get rid of those 2 scratches I have on the bootlid :signLOL:
