Hi all,
Just booked my car in at my local VW for an oil change. The price is £139 inc VAT and they use their Quantom Longlife oil (5w30). I asked about taking my own (Castrol Edge 5w30) and they gave me a price of £100 inc VAT.
The castrol edge oil would cost me £75 delivered for 8 litres from Asda (they are out of 1 litre bottles) or £64 for 5 litres from Halfords.
What does everyone else use for oil changes?
George :happy2:

£139 for an oil change is crazy.
Take your own oil to an independent vw garage and it'll be much cheaper.

National Tyres apparently does an oil change for about £35 or so with the correct Castrol Edge - and my local lads are excellent
-
Our price is:
Correct amount of Castrol Edge: £37
OE Filter: £5
Oil disposal: £5
Labour: £20
Total: £67.00
Always check over tyres/brakes/chassis etc... While we are there too, and reset required values for service schedule in Vagcom and check for fault codes.

5 litres of oil (Castrol 5w30) is about £35 from Asda - save some cash, buy that and go to National tyre who will change it for £15 :happy2:
Even the guys at National are competent to undo a nut, let oil drain out and pour in a few litres.
-
And change the filter :happy2:
I know it's expensive but I want to keep it full VWSH

Shame you're not closer Dave! :sad1:

Do it yourself. Even a monkey can do it

do your dealer not do a price match for a service by a garage within 5 miles?...
get a written quote using genuine parts by a garage within 5 miles, take that to them, see if they'll match it... if they do - wicked, you'll get the service along with stamp in your book. otherwise just take it to the independent. i know birmingham vw do this .....
