I have tried that and two types come up not sure which is correct part for my car

Isn't the 56 plate a cross over year. Mine is a 56 yet I had to order the 07 cam belt kit.

I'm in the same boat need front bearings for mine vw were no help
-
Dont know how much it helps but i recently had 2 wheel bearings done by my local VW dealers recently
the parts where around £95 per bearing then of course fitting on top of that
-
I fitted my wifes mk 5 tdi front bearing myself, from a guide i had, very easy tbh, link below. I would guess its the same for a GTI

It really is a nuts and bolts Job. The bearing is a cartridge type on the GTI no presses required just 4 splined bolts.
-
Are you sure its the bearing and not uneven 'sawtooth' tyre wear like I have?! Mine hums along like a good un, so too have been pricing up brgs. But transpires its my tyres...(rears)
-
It's not the tyres defiantly the rear passenger bearing

Cool just thought Id ask as these cars have a habit of fooling ones ears!
