And I was captivated by this:

:ashamed: :ashamed: :ashamed:
I rather fell in love with it. I've always had a massive E46 soft spot, and, well it is on my car list.... I put a deposit down on it, and am test driving it in the morning (I was wearing my decorating trousers at the time, it would have been sacralige)
I'm only going to keep it for 6 months, and then get another Mk5. I do feel a bit dirty though Paddy. :ashamed: Am I still allowed to come to meets etc? The BM forums look rubbish, and there are some amazing characters on here. :sad1:
-
This act deserves a ban...
-
That's what I love about this forum.
It's a proper car forum, and although not all still own their Mk5's, most have originally frequented these parts after owning a MK5 Gti/A3/Leon/Octavia etc.
So of course you should still frequent here..unless you get banned.
ConvertibleBeemer.Com Forum perhaps?...in case you are banned.

.
WhiteGTI used to have a... you guessed correctly... white Mk5 GTI but now has a BMW M3 and still comes to meets occasionally.
-
Don't worry think I am buying an e46 soon too
-
Sounds like 1/2 the forums going to be banned

Well, I turned up to test drive the 330Ci M Sport convertible yesterday and, well, it looks lovely, sounds lovely, but boy it was slow compared to my Mk5 Stage 1!
The laser blue 3dr Mk5 GTi with sunroof, leather and sat nav just kept looking at me, as if to say, "go on, you know it makes sense!".... So I bought it! And I have to say, the huge amount of enjoyment and sense of belonging you only get from this forum was also a big factor.
Here he is...

I pick him on Friday. I need to drive him tomorrow, and check cambelt and pump done etc, as I was in a bit of a rush to get to cricket. But as long as everything is ok, I've got what I really wanted....a sunroof, and the laser blue colour looks amazing in the sunlight. Almost as good as shadow blue! And I've got leather and nav. Bonus. Well chuffed. :happy2:

Good choice,look's mint too! :happy2:

My fave mk5 colour! :happy2:

Thanks Monte, I'm thrilled with it, can't wait to get modding! I'll start a build thread when I take delivery, but initial plans are:
JKM Revo Stage 1.1 deal with Rev D DV, Milltek cat back exhaust and EVOMS cold air intake
Swap out the 17 Monza'a for some bigger wheels (possibly black split rim BBS)
WALK (got the kit on the old one)
Then eventually go Stage 2.
Roll on Friday!

-
Nice one Ian, congrats. At least you got the sunroof you were hankering after. Enjoy it. :congrats:

The Kerbinator has it full-time now. This will be solely mine, which means I am free to mod it exactly how I want it

I think getting a better shade of blue was a bigger factor than getting a sun roof
Looks like a good motor, be interesting to see what you do with it :happy2:
-
Congrats Ian,welcome to the sun roof club :signLOL:
-
Congrats buddy and as posted earier welcome to the sun roof club :)
-
Nice one, having had 3x 330Ci Clubsports and 330Ci Sport Convertible I'm so glad you went GTi... the BM's just don;t compare in sportiness...
Super colour too, especially in the sun, was admiring Nodz at JKM rr day... bet she'll polish up nice...
-
Well chosen! A roof with a hole in is far better than no roof at all!
I can see bits "going missing" off your old Golf very soon.....

Laser blue is beautiful, but so is Shadow blue, I'd be very happy with either, as long as I can open up the roof and see the sun
-
A really great 'Feel Good' factor :happy2:

Hmm
If there had of been a shadow blue next to it with a sunroof, I don't know what I'd have done! Probably tossed a coin TBH Gray! The only reason for picking a Laser over a shadow would have been because I've already had a shadow blue one.

What a great song. RIP George.

Ian I'm happy for you - at least it's still blue and since it has a sunroof sounds like you've got the car you always wanted :happy2:

Thanks a lot Gray :happy2:

Good choice , I love Laser Blue , its a really excellent colour that really suits the GTI - I find it very strange that VW got rid of it after so short a time , it means you now have a pretty rare car though! :happy2: Have fun with it!

I know, it seems so poular, you think they'd listen to their customers
-
Lovely colour that Laser Blue and a bit different, not too common a colour in the GTI. E46's have too many sensor probs anyway..

And it felt like an old man's pervy-cruiser, with it's wooden trim. Reminded me of being in my old Metro Vanden Plas!

More like clouds and rain currently. Should be called a 'rain roof' in this country
But congrats on the purchase, looks brilliant :happy2:

Test drove it tonight, felt very tight and together, very quiet, no creaking noises at all. AND THE JOY OF DRIVING WITH THE SUNROOF OPEN!!
Bit slow though compared to my Stage 1, so that'll be getting sorted asap.
Cambelt and water pump being done as there is no invoice backing it up, and VW Aylesbury couldn't confirm it had been done as their computer system has locked out all the details of the services. Better to be safe than sorry said the garage I'm buying it from. Fair play!

Don't forget Ian…..with Great Power comes Great Responsibility the need for better brakes
Ill look after you. :innocent:

I've got to pay for this lot first Carlo! And the car. And my new wheels :signLOL:
Slippery Slope? It feels like an avalanche at the moment!
