Right, we've got a 05 plate GTI come in at work as a trade in. Mine is also a 05 plate. Short story is work are allowing me to swap anything from the trade in i want onto mine. Steering wheel and a few trims are coming off as they are in better condition than mine. Info im after is below:
Trade in has centre armrest with CD changer, ive got the arm rest and changer out ready to go in mine as mine has neither, Can you remove the loom for the changer or is it part of the main loom in car? If it can be removed does anyone know where it runs to, i've traced it to where it goes up behind vent ducts under dash/console. If its part of main loom can you buy a link harness?
Next one is it has heated seats, can these be swapped into mine? I know i'd have to swap controls in dash but does anyone know if the seats fit straight in and connectors all there etc?? This could be a bonus as the heater pack in the trade in is mint where as my off button is wearing.
Thanks for any help.

Don't know about the armrest, but for the seats you can swap them over, and also the control panel.
The loom will go to the fuse box etc and you'll have difficulty extracting it, you can get a loom from Kufatec for this and with the seats/panel it's just a case of routing the loom in.

wish vw preston would let me do this!

Cheers, think i'll leave seats. Dont have time to be ripping car to pieces to fit looms in.

tbh if you cut out the loom from the car beneath the seats neatly and cleanly, remove the fuse box and replace your seats over the top - would be a doddle to wire in the fuse for the power in your car (run it under the 'sill' trim up to the fuse box)
rest will all be quite simple, the 'looms' are actually mostly individual, just taped up together, so if your creative with a blade you can seperate the tape and take out the looms you need!

Know what your saying, just dont have the time for this. It's the CD changer im wanting to do most, not too fussed for heated seats tbh. I wont use them. Someone must know what lead i need to fit CD changer to mine, my plan was to just tape the loom up in the trade in under console and fit a new lead in mine, saves time stripping more down as the trade in needs to be built back up asap to go to auction.

CD changer will be a piece of cake
your going to have to temporarily move the cd player/radio forward though to unplug it from the back - its going to be one of the smaller black plugs that goes into the main connector block

if you look on there for the corresponding space for where you'll see the CD changer plug..
unplug that, unravel it from the main loom!
