Whats a good price for a simple oil and filter change? Done all the other bits myself.
-
£35 odd from National Tyres - they use Castrol Edge too
-
National tyres price is a steal too :happy2:

Is the national tyres service any good ??

I don't honestly know but it's a pretty simple job....doubt you need to be a clever cloggs to do it :signLOL:

Ive taken mine twice and have had no problems.
They use Castrol Edge as mentioned and a Unipart oil filter.
I normally go to the stealers along the way to pick up a new sump plug and get national to change that while they are at it.
Its worth noting that you may get charged for the removal of the under tray. Just ring up the branch in question and explain its only 6 screws and ask if you would be charged (ive never been charged). It avoids any suprises when you come to pay the bill.
Rich
oh, if you book it online, you get 10% discount but if you do a google search, theres a further 20% discount code that you can apply as well! :happy2:

My national tyres lot are brilliant. Never used them for an oil change but I will do when the time comes!
Edit: this is the Newcastle-u-Lyme branch

wow so £105 was a rip off.

I had a bad experience with national tyres with my oil change, they left the car sitting for 4 hours before starting the oil change (even after phoning ahead an hour before i got there to see if they could do it), never warmed up the engine to drain the old oil, it took the guy 4 attempts to get the correct tool to remove the sump plug, then after he finished the oil change he started the car and revved the tits out of it and drove my car around the car park like an idiot,
He also put 7liters of oil into the car as I found out when I checked the oil level the next day and had to drop over 2 litres from the car myself (only used them to save the hassle of getting oil in the car park and having to transport the old oil to the skip)
This was the Aberdeen branch and I was assured by the management of national tyres that this was a rare case but I would be watching them like a hawk when doing the change
I like to Change the oil In a car every 5k or 6 months so will be using vw every year and my usual garage for the in between services and work that requires a ramp

If you've 'done all the other bits' yourself, do the oil change yourself. It's straightforward and there's no risk of some tool putting in 37 litres of gloop and driving it like a tit.

Its partly to get a stamp in the book, partly because i cant be arsed jacking it up and playing underneath with the pants weather at the moment.

Great - that's not far from me. Thinking I may do an interim oil change this year to get the sump a bit cleaner.
Can they be trusted with fitting tyres?
National in Crewe damaged my monza shadows when they took the old tyres off :fighting:
