Title: Oil Temperature Question
Post by: Mackie1 on June 23, 2012, 01:03:37 am
Hey foks can anyone confirm the optimum (or correct/normal) oil temperature for the Tfsi engine? The figure of 90 degrees has been mentioned but I've been unable to establish whether that's Celcius or Fahrenheit?! Thanks in advance.

less than 120 is okay.

There is a hidden display to find out what temp your oil is running at, i will try & find out the the numbers you need to find this out

15.0

Hit & hold econ button with the button to vent the windows at the same time, this will give you like a secert dash display, turn the temperature gauge to the right to 15, where your temp is displayed the oil temp will be shown...

Hope that helps M8ty  :happy2:

Thanks Neil. Was already aware of how to access the temp reading through the aircon controls but it was the actual ideal oil temp figure that I was after.

No no no no!!  I fell for this one, it isn't the oil temp! That is the heater / air con diagnostics screen and does not show the oil temp. It gives you air con compressor speed at 15.0 IIRC. if you watch it it doesn't change.

Sorry guys

I think it's 0.0 on the heater side gives oil temp on the right display.

Forget all the knob twiddlling  and get yourself a Polar FIS advanced to get the oil temp readout and much more...

The air con display will not tell you oil temp (on any number). It's a myth  :surprised:

It tells you features of the air con, ie compressor speed. Only thing worthwhile on that display is the cars actual speed (19.1??) which the system uses to work out how much fan speed to use.

Trust me

Been discussed several times on here. . . .
