Title: un retro fitting RNS510 and crusie control
Post by: mad_pete on June 25, 2012, 09:46:08 am
I'm buying a Pirelli special edtion and want to move across the retro fit cruise and RNS510 from my standard GTI.  Does sat nav and cruise control need to be un programmed in the standard GTI ?  Or will it be okay just to remove the hardware ?

The cruise will need to be deactivated in the ECU and steering controller

And the same with RNS in Canbus.

I'm sure the standard HU will work just fine even if navigation is still activated in the CANBUS. Because mine had the RCD500 in when I bought it and when I fitted the RNS510 later, navigation was already activated (previous owner had his  RNS510 removed prior to sale but not deactivated in the CANBUS).

Although seeing as you will need to deactivate the cruise you may aswell deactivate the navigation at the same time :happy2:

At this rate cruise might end up staying in so it's good to know the nav will bahave on it's own
