Title: Vw service virgin
Post by: Frenzy on June 26, 2012, 12:48:21 pm
I pop my cherry tomorrow regarding vw servicing and like most virgins with their first time I want it to be oh so beautiful

However I'm aware that there's a bit of a con that can arise such as vw trying to sell me tyres, washing my car with whatever springs to hand and the like.

So what should I be aware of? Gonna make a do not wash sign to hang on the rear view mirror

I've not had a bad experience at my local dealer. I know some people have - it's a mixed bag really. Also they've never once tried to sell me anything extra...maybe it's because I don't give off a 'totally clueless about cars' vibe though as I have a reasonable knowledge of service items, costs, etc. I'm no expert, but not completely clueless.

If you bring your car in spotlessly clean they're unlikely to wash it, although no harm putting the sign up!

Enjoy the occasion - I'd say popping your cherry will be fairly mundane unfortunately!! Maybe you could try to spice up the atmosphere by wearing some sort of fantasy/roleplay outfit??

They tried to get me to buy 2 front tyres even though my GY F1's were only 2 months old and hardly worn to my untrained eye. Told me I needed front and rear wipers, no problems with them.

They just can't help it in my experience. Tell them you want your fuel filter changing (if you have a petrol car), that will confuse them!

Like the role play idea!  :signLOL:
