Title: ET offset... std 17" monza
Post by: DSG-GTI on June 26, 2012, 08:43:46 pm
Guys I am thinking of buying a set of 8x18" CH reps they come fitted with 225/45zr18 92w xl tyres... obviously these will be chepo tyres but I will be swapping them as soon as I sell my 17" Monza's ... My question is that the ET of the reps is 42 is this different than the std wheel also which way does the wheel sit if the ET is say 52... towards the arch or the other way ... cheers for any info.

Lower the number. The closer it will be to the arch.

i.e. 40 offset will sit closer to the arch than a 52 offset.

Can you not buy the reps with no tyres at all and get them cheaper still, allowing you to put the saving towards premium rubber?

I was looking at reps before I got my Pescaras, and a lot of the firms did them wheels only, with a saving of around 150-200 pounds. Seems a shame to waste good money on cheap rubber that you'll not use.

Hi bud, Yes I can get the wheels on there own and have been thinking that I may do just that as like you say probably be near on 200 quid cheaper.... and put that to some decent tyres.... makes perfect sense really... I was just getting exited and wanted to be able to bolt them straight on  but the first time out in a bit of wet and ooooh nooooh these need to come off !!! so I think I will have to buy the wheels and have some decent rubber put on them and recoup a bit of money back from the monza's ....  like a muppet I had a pair of PS3 fitted to the front about 4k ago... the rears are mitch... so forking out for 4 more in 18's is going to hurt the wallet

MMM shall I pull the trigger today
