Title: What are peoples views on this intake?
Post by: RENNTAG on June 28, 2012, 03:43:05 pm
As above. What do people think of this intake. Is putting the filter down by the front fog grill any better. I have open fog grills so will be almost open to the fresh air outside.

Ignore the cost as i wont want the engine cover.

Comes to about £335.

.
The potential problem with an intake which draws air directly from so low down is the possibility of water ingress - Obviously seriously bad for an engine.

It's surprising how even standing water from quite minor flooding can whoosh up. I think that some such intake systems have valves but I'm not sure I would trust one. In the UK there is now a very substantial amount of water for a car to deal with and you can never predict when or where. This year has been particularly wet (hence the hosepipe ban!).

Couldn't agree more with Robin. On a side note I used the Neuspeed P-flo in the short ram spec and seemed a decent piece of kit but can draw in quite a bit of hot air compared to an enclosed intake. Good value for money though.

Thanks for the advise from you both.

God point regarding sucking up water  :happy2: Think maybe i will go with the normal p-flo and run some ducting up from the fog grill t try and feed it a bit more cold air  :happy2:

Iv had a p flo on my stage 2 car for jus over a week. Car is definatly more responsive, feels quicker and sounds great. N for £180 its a steal in comparison to the ITG n others alike.

....When comparing with the ITG and other more expensive intakes I think it would make a fairer comparison to see reliable independent data on gains. It depends what you want from an intake - Different folks want different things.

....Pity you have missed the chance to dyno both intakes on the same rollers on the same day. But your findings will be interesting anyway.  :happy2:
