My diesel has an erratic idle and fluctuates at 750 - 900. Having had it on VAGCOM it indicates faults at the Glowplugs. On speaking to a few people they feel that when replacing the glowplugs it might also be an idea to replace the loom as this is identified as a common fault on these engines.
Any help would be appreciated,as to rectifying this issue and also which Glowplugs to go for (part numbers where possible please)
Have heard good things about BERU Glowplugs ?
Thanks in advance Steve

Thought it was the 170 that had the wiring loom problem

No-one know this one ??

Glow plugs shouldnt cause issues with the idle. It may be the loom thats causing the glow plug faults and the loom may be causing a fault to the injectors.
Are all the hoses ok? Much black smoke out the back when driving?

No, not much smoke whilst driving, VAGCOM shows x2 faults on the system, i need to get the codes really. Thanks for that though :happy2:
