Title: Scratch
Post by: Mahooo3 on July 02, 2012, 10:09:23 am
Hi,

A dog jumped up on my car yesterday and scratched the passenger door jus above the plastic trim.

I was planning machine polishing my car before this happened with menzerna final finish ff 3000, just to give it a shine.  However now I'm not so sure.  Is it worth doing the whole car with a rougher grade of polish or just the scratch?  Coz tbh the car doesn'nt really need it.

In other words would it be noticable that just a small patch on the door has been done with a rougher polish and finished off??

Thanks

Suspect the damage will be too deep to be able to polish out. I'd still use the standard method of polishing ie use the least abrasive pad and polish to get the job done. At the very least, you'll be able to make the scratch less visible.

Generaly if you can gently rub your fingernail over the scrarch and not have it ''catch'' then you should be able to machine it out ok  :happy2:
