Title: Super jap geek converted!
Post by: Louis. on July 02, 2012, 11:47:40 pm
Hi folks,
Ive owned 2 honda civic's and 2 starlets, one i have now is a turbo but ive been converted and im in loooovvvvveeeee!

Well I have been looking at different cars for about 4 months now and I had no idea what to get, had been looking at honda civic ek4s ep3s, corsa and astra vxrs but I wasn't happy about either. Then this turned up to work usually as a peugeot garage we don't get any good cars at all but the guy had a new born so needed a 5dr. So i jumped at this within 2 hours of the car been traded in

So here it is:-
GTI mk5
2 litre petrol turbo
200bhp
90,000miles
one owner from new
full service history

Some how insurance is 80 cheaper a month having this over the glanza!  :notworthy:
Comfiness and quietness is just unreal its like driving in a lazyboy chair haha

Welcome on board.  :happy2:

Nice car and the best colour (once it has a good detail).

Loads of threads and help on best polishes, waxes etc to use for the Tornado Red. Personnally use Clearkote Red Mousse Glaze (machine polish) and/or Meguairs Polosh, then either Concourse Red Wax or Poorboys Natty's Paste. You will soon have that GTI looking the muts, it's one of best reds on any car!!

Enjoy your new motor!

A Warm Welcome to the forum! You'll get lots of help here and all your questions answered.

But.... Is your name really Louis and not Louise? - I ask because there's another new member whose forum name is Rachael but who sometimes calls herself Derek. She has a red Mk5 GTI too.

My 2005 Mk5 GTI has now done 100,000 miles. I've had her from new and can say that, if you look after them well, Volkswagens live up to their reputations  :notworthy:

Oh, okay, I'll PM you my home address

@ Louis: Don't be put off by the banter, we can all be quite serious as well when needed (I think!). This really is the best 2.0T FSI platform forum in cyberspace  :grouphug:

Sorry Louis. I agree, rear window tint possibly?

Just putting it out there

^^^^
Don't forget that you should only tint from the B-pillars rearwards  :happy2:

Yours will have the OEM blue, not green, tinted glass like mine.

[Phew! Back on topic]

^^^^ wish VW had kept with the Blue.  :sad1:

Loved that colour on my last GTI.  I  reckon the visibility and/or clarity was enhanced too. Not sure why they stopped, must have been a reason?

 :happy2:

 :happy2:

....I'm guessing it's probably due to streamlining factory production lines and costs? Do other Mk5 Golf versions use green tints?

Yes yes legal! Dont have limo though (just my opinion)  :happy2:

And a badass exhaust and away you go. Oh and a cheeky remap eventually :)

P.s. I don't think mine are blue or green Tbh!

....Perhaps you should have gone to Specsavers!  [No, I better not post that Specsavers naughty vid]

Yours is an 06-plate (?) and so close to the change from blue to green tints. Someone else here will know the precise changover date. But you should be able to see if you look through the glass at something white.

The OEM tint colours are quite subtle, Rach. But I think the blue is more attractive and relates better to blue skies - Does anyone remember seeing blue skies!?

Theres no plans for it as such, just to clean her up and enjoy it, ive been looking at getting cruise control as i can imagine id use it a lot on the motorways.
Maybe a remap in the future too as id didnt feel very fast at all, i dont know whether there is anything wrong but i will be taking it to awesome gti to get it properly checked over and see what they say about the car  :stupid:
Yes it is louis, not some other lady you can try to chat up sorry haha

Yes, get it on a Dyno and also have them do a Diagnostic check. Sure all is fine though. When you say it does not feel very fast, in what way?

Well on my glanza its very obvious when the turbo kicks in as power is instant even at 10psi of boost, but this feels like the turbo is putting out 2psi, for a 2 litre i wasn't very impressed as my 1.3 felt faster and thats at only 140 bhp
But this is my first german car so im guessing the power delivery is completely different?

Just want to make sure its normal then i can go from there and improve   :driver:
