Something odd happened today...... was reversing in a car park and got a bulb defect telling me my rear fog and reversing bulbs were out, parked up and tried to open the boot but it won't open and is locked shut  The boot was opening fine when i set off as i opened it to put my gym stuff in the boot
Has anybody else had this happen? i'm going to check the bulbs but don't think there is a fuse for the tailgate lock is there??
Any help appreciated
thanks

Sounds like what happened to me. Closed boot drove off Bulb error light for reverse & foglight. Tailgate wouldn't open, rear wiper didn't work either.
The cause was broken earth wire in the tailgate loom... Parts cost pennies but the labour was excessive at the stealers about £115!!

Cheer's Andy that's exactly what i've got, just checked the fuse box and alls good in there and my rear wiper or washer jet doesnt work either, strangely enough i manually opened the boot from the inside and then twice the handle worked fine and now won't again so definitely a connection shorting out
Atleast i've got somewhere to point the garage when i take it in to cut down on the ummming, ahhhhhing and chin scratching :signLOL:

Problem solved :pomppomp:
Turned out to be the earth in the rear loom running through the left hand side rubber sleave :fighting:
Luckily was a clean break in the wire and very easy to spot, fish out and re-attach then hey presto i've got a fully functioning tailgate again
Saved myself a small fortune taking it to the dealers to look at :booty:
