Title: Sidewall damage
Post by: Tortaruga on July 04, 2012, 10:25:44 am
So the missus kerbed nsf wheel when 'parking' :fighting:

There is a gash in the sidewall; the rubber is still 'there' but can be pulled away and I can see under it. There are no cords/wires showing. The piece of rubber is approx. 3-4mm thick

Just wondered if I can repair this? Am I facing certain death on the road? I've driven 200 miles on it already - I only noticed after I washed the car at the weekend.

Thanks for any advice.

Depends on where it is. I had something similar where I had to swerve to avoid a dangerous driver (who was overtaking another car on approach to the roundabout I was coming off).

I checked it with two tyre companies who both cleared it as it was within the rim protector bit. I was approx 50p sized and didn't do anything in the following three years/20k miles.
