I got some winter tyres today, i know too early etc etc but it will give me time to refurb the alloys.
Both pairs of tyres are the same size but the Pirelli sottozero are wider than the bridgestone blizzak even though they are both 205/50/17
I know its probably just the tyre manufactures design but still strange, so which should i use on the front / back ?
Smaller width on the front to bite in ? wider on the rear as they will still get traction ?

Sorry i cant help..... but thanks for the reminder!! :happy2:
I just picked up a cheap pair from ebay :innocent:

Use the smaller width on the front if they have the same deph in tread
-
More or less the same tread depth, about 1mm difference.
Anyone know the best way to do a cheap refurb of the alloys ? I was just going to rub them down and spray them up. Due to the salt on the road in winter

vRS Carl, still swears by these he ran last winter, full review below.

Isn't 205/50/17's the wrong size anyway. Shouldn't they be 225/45/17's. But rule of thumb, thinest or those with the most tread depth.

205/50/17 is the best match for the standard 225/40/18 but the tyres you mentioned 225/45/17 are not that far out either.
As you say you need narrower tyres in winter thats why i went for 205

I just went for regular 225/40/18 :ashamed:
