Hi Lads & Lasses,
Again I need your help. Some of you may have spotted I was trying to get to Revo Stg 1 engine & DSG maps earlier this week - but the car was running rough so wanted some diagnostics first. So here's the sorry tal of stuff we changede;
* 4 x new coil packs
* New lambda sensor
* New DV (can't remember letter but the piston type one!)
* New OEM HPFP & loads of other fuel related stuff including cam follower etc
then back onto Dyno to find that boost still leaking ...
Just found out that i/c has failed and that end tanks have deserted the rest of the core :fighting:
There's loads on here about I/Cs but I'm really not sure ... do I go OEM + twintercooler ... S3 ... THS ... not APR I'm too broke (and tight if honest!)
My intention is to go to Stg 2 engine and stg 1 dsg and leave the power mods there so will an S3 intercooler suffice and are they a "straight" replacement on a K03 GTI :ashamed:?
Advice and guidance much appreciated,
Alex

THS is amazing and is what I run.
Allowed me to run 9-5-9 on a 2+ Revo ED30 with NO issues.

Hear good things about the THS, but Jabbaluke is running his ED30 (400hp) on just an S3 intercooler, he reckons upto that figure S3 is fine, above that add an extra one (APR/Forge/THS etc)

On a Mk5 GTI K03, I'm running Stage 2 and DSG Stage 1 (both Revo). I was advised that a HPFP (APR) would be more important than a bigger intercooler. However, as you need to replace your OEM i/c anyway, it seems a perfect opportunity to upgrade.
Forge Twintercooler is cheaper/easier to install but more expensive than S3 i/c which is more expensive to install. But, again, you have to remove your stock i/c anyway.
If it helps you to know, JKM advised me I wouldn't need to upgrade the i/c unless I went to Stage 2+ (Revo).

from my experience from the threads i have read on here s3 cooler on ko3 will be more than enough.
I have just fitted on and intake temps are way down and no signs of timing pull at all. im running revo 2+

Thanks guys, as always useful input and now likley to go S3 with the feedback and use the savings to fund the new maxogen enclosed filter.
Really useful input as always. :drinking: :happy2:

You should really be on the stage 2 dsg iirc. Stage 1 is for unmapped cars and stage 2 for mapped.

....Are you sure about that, Alex? - I started off with Revo's DSG software many months before it was publicly released and it was upgraded by Revo via JKM after public release.
I was told by Carl at Revo that DSG Stage 1 is for K03 and DSG Stage 2 for K04 cars. :confused:
