Welcome from another dimond black eddy owner. Get her remaped and you'll enjoy her even more :-D
-
is a stage 1 likely to add much to the insurance ?
i pay £400 full comp.
-
also, how do I find out the limited edition number for the car ?
sorry - I did a few searches on here but couldn't find anything.
i guess i have no chance of getting a plaque now either ?
-
I did a quick search on the plaque thing
Theres a few threads about so might mean you have to go through a few pages. This one may get you started though.

If the car has not had a plaque given originally then you can still get one through VW customer service, think it 'Jenny' you need to speak with. If it has then they wont issue another, but will tell you what number it is.

Welcome to the ED30 club fella. :drinking:
Enjoy it first for what it is and then if you want, get a tuner to work some magic on your car. Stage 1 should see you gaining somewhere around 15-20% increase in bhp, add a piston DV and better panel filter and that will help, and that just the start, sure you know all this, on GTI number 4.
As mentioned for your plaque (and/or build number) give VW Customer Services a ring on 0800 0833914 and if it has not been sent out already to a previous owner then VW will send it to you for free. If its still available you just need to send/email them a copy of your V5.

My first task will be to get the car looking the part, got a lot of stone chips which doesn't look great on a black bonnet so going to see Rob @ gleammachine to see if he can work some magic or if it needs a re-spray.
Tuning will have to take a back seat for a while
-
Welcome along, fastest colour too.
-
Welcome. I have a Candy White ED30 and from Basildon, Essex. So who knows, might see you about.
-
Pictures would be great

You clearly don't live in the South of England !
Once the rain stops I will give her a clean and post some pics :happy2:

Welcome to the forum, I'll have to keep my eyes out for you then as that's my neck of the woods. As you say there's not many ed30's round here so spotting you should be easier :happy2:

Which other's have you owned?
2 x mk2 8v (one red, one grey)
1 x mk4 1.8T indigo blue 3-dr with recaro's and R32 aluminium and r-line gearstick
my last car was an audi 2.0 FSi which I never felt anything for like i did with my golf's, hence why I had to switch back... I'm feeling the love again now
the one thing that lets the eddie down is the stereo system (RCD300), and speakers, sounds absolute pants !

Yes, first thing I upgraded was my RCD500 to the RNS510. Which gives better sound even with the standard speakers. Also loving the navigation and SD card slot which makes putting tunes on there simple :happy2:
-
RNS510 has to be the way forward then, PM me if anyone has one for sale please :happy2:
-
Quick update, I have booked her in for a 3-day detailing / paint correction session with Rob @ gleammachine next month.
She is a little bit swirly / scratchy / stone-chippy right now so needs some attention ...
Will post up the before / after pics once it's done !
-
welcome to the forum mate
