Title: Film of local floods....
Post by: RedRobin on July 09, 2012, 04:53:12 pm

I got lucky! The water level stopped within 4" of my garage door and I live at first floor level. Part of my garden did go under about 6" of water and a drain cover popped and allowed some turds to float down the path to my home. All cleared up now though.

^^^^
Have your local floods been mostly due to a river bursting its bank, Mat?

Mine were mostly due to the rainfall overpowering the storm drainage system. Over 3" rainfall within 24hrs!

Our garden has totally flooded. We live in a fairly elevated position but the fields to the back of the house are saturated and water is running off them into the garden. Doesn't look like any danger of penetrating the house though.

no the amount of rain has been crazy the last few weeks  and it has been pouring it down hard for the last 5 hours so the water coming down from the hills has just hit hebden bridge hard as its in a valley with a river at the bottom of it.Prince charles was only in hebden a few days ago looking at the last flood damage from a few weeks back

In Bridport it rained non-stop from Thursday evening right through to Saturday evening and most of it was heavy rain with no let up.

not seen much rain here recently but still get a few turds coming up the driveway - normally selling something

sorry could'nt resist - all in jest of course.

live in a very elevated position so never likely to be flooded but could not imagine what it must be like

I was up in Saddleworth few weeks back when river broke it's banks and flooded one of the low villages.

We had some heavy rain last week but only overnight or first thing in the morning, come 10am it's been sunny and 20c most days  :signLOL:

P.S. that blokes voice is perfect for doing voice overs for "police camera action"  :signLOL:
