Going fast in a straight line wins no respect.

I'm getting a loan of an S1 Rallye for the day, just for funnies. cage, bucket, semis and lots of laughs.

They're just superb, sure things go past you on the straights, but they don't touch you in the bends!

My Spidey senses tell me Top Cat is booked on...  :happy2:

Nah, Mercs are 5x112. It was one of those random adverts where a penny drops and you move heaven and earth to make them yours, the seller had no clue what they were. They were even ET47 so went straight over the brakes too.

The clutter was faultless, we won all the trophies and the secret sighting laps bonus. Bad luck everyone else  :star:

Nice to see and meet everyone, especially big thanks to TC for letting me have a go of the Lotus - what a fricking machine, waaaay more capable than my balls were prepared to exploit.

Oh, and I have wind burn.

Anglesey is a top circuit, had a cracking day apart from the crawl all the way down the A55 going home.  My Exige can be handful to drive on the road, but on track it is so much fun and easy to understand. Had a little play with SteveyD when we were at the end of a 20 minute session so both our tyres had gone off, The car was sliding all over the place but it was still easy to control.

Also had a detail last week to remove all the scratches and now it is home it looks like it needs another one, the car has been battered with chunks of tyres, black marks that wont come off  and the whole sill area has practically a tyres worth of rubber down both sides.  :chicken:

Good catching up with everyone as well.  Bring on the next one.   :driver:

Tar remover, and then remove what's left with a bug shifter (you know these thing with a mesh cloth over the top) and your normal soap.

Because race car.

You could use a Brillo pad if that sounds like too much work?

Don't you dare turn into one of those people who cling films and blue masking tapes their car up. Chapman would be turning in his grave!
Title: Re: Anglesey - 22/07/12 - dual circuit format
Post by: Top Cat on July 23, 2012, 11:58:33 am
Dont be silly.  :fighting2:  The car was covered in scratches from the previous owners visits to Romanian car wash facilities, so it needed a polish. I bought this car for track hooning and thats what it gets. Still needs washing though. I am sure Mr Chapman wouldn't begrudge me the occasional hose down.

True, dirt is weight!

Nah, whilst I don't get the whole detailing thing, I do like a nice presentable car. If mine gets a break from being in BMW, I'd like Nath to remove the swirls they keep piling up every time they wash it with the yardbrush. I just can't be bothered with that last 10% which seems to take over people's lives.

Finally a track day that working offshore didn't prevent me from attending!! what a day, great meeting everyone again, Anglsey was very kind to me and nothing major to report.  The Milltek R is mighty and simply couldn't be matched.  Finally got to see TC on track as mentioned :)

Although I have straight line speed, standard suspension and only R32 front brakes lets the car down slightly but it's still more than capable of scalping quite a lot.  Any further money will be spent on my R-TEK track project though :)

It's a very good track with some varying corners, really enjoyed the run up through church to rocket, the Golf R gets a lovely slide on at 110 into the last part of the corner before braking very hard  :driver: :driver:

Just a shame it's go bloody far into North Wales

Agreed, technical and interesting enough to keep you entertained all day, there's a decent bit of gradient change too which doesn't really show until you're there. Coastal is better than GP.

Massive downside is fuel is a 40 minute round trip, as there's non on site.

I agree with the above, the extra penis shape on the international is no fun, especially losing the corkscrew, if you take the corkscrew  fast enough the car goes very light and sideways, feels like you jump the apex.  :driver:
You really need to take a trip to Tescos in the lunch time to fill up.  :happy2:
