Title: Electric mirrors and fuel flap release failed then restarted
Post by: homesqueeze on July 12, 2012, 07:41:42 pm
Hi, does anyone know why my electric folding mirrors and fuel flap filler release might have stopped working and then started again later?! I am currently driving home through Europe from Estonia and all has been fine until today. I went to start my car in the morning and my wing mirrors wouldn't unfold, the mirror adjustment wouldn't work either. Then shortly afterwards, I went to fill up with petrol and the fuel filler release wouldn't work either. I absolutely had to refuel, so I had to force my fuel flap open which snapped off the palstic bit that clips into the catch :(
However later in the day after much driving through Sweden, everything was working normally again. Why did this happen. It's obviously not a fuse, could it just be a loose connection? I'm in Germany at the moment still on my way home, so I can't do much right now but does anyone have any ideas?

My electric mirrors stopped working a few wks ago, had to manually stretch them out, etc, then it made a buzzing noise like it was having a fit, lol, then started working again! Must b 1 of those things, c'est la vie!

Thanks for the ideas, some kind of wiring issue was my first thought. Everything is still working ok now though. Just had to happen at a really awkward time, gutted I had to break my fuel flap!
