Title: DSG launch control question
Post by: Robo on July 13, 2012, 04:12:02 pm
Since having Revo stage 2 engine software and Revo stage 1 DSG software I have not used launch control however Wednesday night I decided to have a play with it and some mates were there and the girlfriend videoed it. After the first run I noticed it left 2 tyre marks obviously spinning both wheels I thought this would not happen with a standard diff? Bit confused really I did 2 runs and both showed both wheels spinning

Any ideas? A friend said it could be flicking from wheel to wheel but there were no breaks in the tyre marks :/

ESP off.... Both wheels will spin at the same time unless wheels are on different surfaces.

I wish Revo had fitted the diff lol

So at Santa pod or similar u wouldn't need an LSD to set off nicely then only advantage been on track?

I thought the DSG had an electronic LSD element within the DSG gearbox, or is that the MK6?

Ellis.

only Mk6s have an electronic diff (but DSG and manuals both have it)

XDS (Elec diff) still doesn't stop the wheels spinning.

I've tried it once in my Octy which has the XDS Diff and the wheels still spun. Unless you get some super soft slicks, a proper mechanical diff and a grippy track surface you will get a better launch short shifting into 2nd

As long as both wheels have the same level o grip they will behave the same. Its when one wheel looses traction a LSD helps.
