is it possible to get the day/night map screen to switch over automatically when your lights are on?
-
Yeah, I believe you go into either setup or display and it's in there somewhere. I'm popping out in in a min for half hour so will have a play and let you know exactly where it is :happy2:
-
Yes mine does this so there must be a setting in there somewhere.
-
thanks, ill have to play around. i wasn't to sure if it was because i didn't have mine coded when i fitted it
-
i think its more to do with if its been wired in correctly.
There is a wire labelled 'illumination' and i think this gets the feed from the lights.
The only lighting setting is to set the brightness as far as I remember

There is one for auto day/night in there somewhere because if you change it on the map it goes to manual mode and then you have to go into the settings to put it back to auto. Its something I have to do alot as I seem to drive with my lights on in the day but have to change it from auto to have the day setting with the lights on

i just swapped the plug from my rcd 300 to the rns 510 ?

On the later firmwares it seems to have a mind of it's own.
It dims the display irrespective of the lights being on.

There is a little light sensor in the top right hand corner and it measures the ambient light to decide when to switch over by the looks ot it. My auto lights come on when the wipers are on auto and start wiping, but the radio doesn't dim, only when it get's darker does it do so.

398x onwards it works off the rain/light sensor (if installed) and/or the sensor on the unit itself. So even if you have your headlights switched off and you went into a tunnel for example the display would change to night mode. Had me puzzled for a while till I worked it out
You used to be able to turn it to manual in the settings but I haven't looked in ages so not sure if it's still there in the newer firmwares.

just went out, had a little play in the settings and managed to work it out.. cheers

I would prefer this, I think I will need to update mine at some point
