Title: Judder in 5th/6th only when cold
Post by: Alex156 on July 17, 2012, 08:38:39 am
Hi all

I'm experiencing a judder when in 5th / 6th when putting foot down. Only way to describe it is it feels like traction control kicking in. This only happens when car is cold and seems to disappear after 5-10 mins. Does also run ever so slightly lumpy on cold start sometimes but again fine when warm.

I'm driving an 07 GTI, 80,000 miles but with full VWSH having had 7-8 time/distance services in it's lifetime. I'm booking it for it's next service in a couple of weeks time and wanted to try and get an idea of what could be going on to get funds together if needed. Any help appreciated.

Thanks.......

Sounds like dual mass flywheel...

Have you got a slightly rough idle too?

Yes sometimes idle is rough. Usually on startup when cold and only occasionally when warm and stopped (e.g. A red light). If it was DMF wouldn't it do it all the time in 5th/6th and not just when cold?
