Title: Stage 1 Revo
Post by: Dub-Jon on July 17, 2012, 05:40:19 pm
Hi guys got my car booked in for a stage 1 map.  Whilst the 20% offer is still on.     Can I really b expecting to get around 60bhp extra from a standard engine?

No, not even with a high-flow performance exhaust system and intake.

I assume you are applying this to a 197 bhp Mk5 K03 turbo'd GTI. Expect about 240 bhp. Tuners like to big up their figures but I suppose they might be forgiven because of the lottery of rolling-road results.

Would there be a great difference between REVO dealers in the results that are acheived by a Stage 1 map (ed30 - k04 car)?  Or and you better off/safer to go to a particular revo supplier?

the power will be the same as the map is the same, all the dealer will change is the boost/timing/fuel settings which can only go so high on a standard car.

OP - Dont worry too much about peak figures, a stage 1 map on the gti transforms the car and you wont care about numbers when your foot is flat.

On my k04 edition30 , the standard set up is 230bhp , on the rolling road after the stage 1 map it made 285 bhp. But as Robin said on a k03 the gains will be less  :happy2:

....Exactly  :happy2:

The numbers are to some extent academic. what's more important is the car's driveability and the extra performance you can feel is on tap when you want it.
