Few questions!
Will my standard internals keep up with the extra power? What are my options when it comes to upgrading these?
Do i need a DSG map when going KO4?
Thanks!
-
You probably know this already but theres a loaaaaaaaaad of threads about the K04 conversion
In short, YES your standard internals will cope fine with 330-340bhp the K04 conversion gives. You may wish to consider an upgrade if you decide to go for WMI or NOS :driver:
James was running near 400bhp (and thrashing it everywhere) before his BWA engine gave up (after 8k miles)
The rods are the weakest point and are the first place to upgrade.
DSG map is recommended (although I'm no DSG expert)

Is yours an AXX or BWA engine?

Go to the gym more often and you should be fine.

Not essential but it does help.

i dont know...is there a easy way to tell without being anywhere near my car

Rods are major weak link and it will depend on how its mapped and driven how long they last.

any links to aftermarket ones? or brands/links to research?
It what im going to have to save for as the next thing to do. Im not going to have a all out map put on the car, i want it to last

If your going with a main stream tuner then your unlikely to need to rods on a K04 conversion.
Integrated Engineering do drop in rods for the TFSI if you do want to push things further :happy2:

Alternatively just do an engine swap for an ED30/Cupra/S3 engine.
At around £3k it shouldn't break the bank.

although yes this is a good idea...3k is a big bill to stomach all at once. I do only have 2 wheels for this power to get through you know

Hi mate, i have just read your post about going k04, i went k04 myself about four weeks ago and all i can say is go for it. You will not be disappointed. You should be safe on the k03 lump depending on map. To put into comparison on how quick it is now, i came 3rd overall at inters in mk5 + mk6 class and 2nd 0-60 fastest and that was over the whole weekend. Hope this makes your mind up. :happy2:
