Hi , does anyone think there will be any MK6 Golf built with 2013 spec ? or when the factory finishes mk6 production this year everything will be 2012 spec.
Having bought BMWs for 20 yrs I know that in late July they change for Aug produced cars to the following years spec so cars arriving in Aug onwards are the following years build specs , like different colour glass and steering wheel buttons etc,
When would VW normally change to the following years spec
TIA

i remember reading from RR that the model year change over is around now
we know they've already stopped production on the Golf R and i can't imagine the other models are far behind. with the A3 having been released (and there being one in my local showroom) and the Leon being unveiled i think the MY13 car will likely be the Mk7

Indeed the build change is now in July. My car started her build in week beginning 11th July 2005 and was delivered 4th August and is a 06-build spec.
I ordered her in May 2005.

I wonder what the mk7 will look like? It promise good things. Anyone know when it is being released??
Cheers.

Always a closely guarded secret but the new generation usually gets launched publicly at the September Paris Show and becomes available for UK ordering from the following March.
But will the Mk7 be September 2012 or 2013?

That can't be right as I have a R on order and it was due to be built wc 6 Aug and has gone back to wc 4 Sept so they will be building them still in Sept so would my R be considered 2013 specification Golf R

Whoop whoop 2013 spec it is then according to MR VW customer service .
2013 R Spec to have symol change on air con display and button also trip reset button has a new symbol ,they have pushed the boat out on 2013 spec Rs.
I havent specced them Bucket seats ,I am 49 and think its a bit boy racer tbh. Sorry if anyone has them it is just me .
I have a few quid left from my piggy bank and can't decide if I would rather have factory extras or get a custom set of Red or possibly Blue calipers from the brake legend mr DaveB as the Black factory ones look a little dull. This R is only going to be used on weekends ,I just keep thinking spare wheels and Brake colour to match the blue needles, or Revo and full milltek just can't decide .

lol i thought i'd read that they'd stopped production from one of your earlier threads. or maybe it was that they'd closed the order books?
i'm surprised that they're continuing making them tbh!

I wouldn't be so sure , I was advised 13th June was the last orders .I bet there is room for orders and to tweak a few that are ordered so you get what you want .

I also spoke to someone at VW Huddersfield and was told I could order one. Didn't mention the book being closed.

....Oh dear, that sounds as if it's a Mk6.5. I understand that the Golf is a gradual evolution but.

Mmm. The Mk5 was certainly a big change. The 6 obviously wasn't, although was a subtle evolution of the marque. The 7 will probably follow this trend.
The saying 'fashion fades, style remains' I think is very relevant to the Golf. Supposing they went mad and radical - I wonder would they alienate a lot of their market? I think they'd actually make the car more desirable!
Thing is the Golf is a good looking car, so maybe there's no point in really changing a winning formula that's been a success for 35ish years.

I agree. It's rather like the Porsche 911 design evolution.
The Mk4 > Mk5 was a bigger change and was needed regarding GTI performance but not so much re body styling.
