Just noticed my front splitter is missing! It has clearly been ripped off, as the little screws with the star-shaped holes are still there, along with a piece of broken plastic under each.
I've ordered a new one, but how do I get the little screws out?
-
I honestly don't mean this sarcastically, but can you not just unscrew them?
-
Probably be a torx bit either a t20 or t25
-
Probably your stealer will fit it for free?
It just takes 5 minutes.

No, You need a special star-shaped bit. Which I dont have. I tried all my phillips heads, but no joy.

Ha! I doubt it! If I was on fire, Colbournes Guildford would't p*ss me out! :fighting:

Yeah, you can get them as bits, sockets set attachments, screwdrivers or Allen keys

Nice one, thanks Nodz. Every day's a school day on Mk5golfgti.co.uk!

Worth while having a set of torx bits, and also the torx sets where they are long like Allen keys - as a lot of parts of cars are torx head screws :happy2:

Hitting Screwfix in a minute. Cheers for the tip on the Allen key suggestion Brookes. :happy2:
-
you could pick up a cheap set from tesco...
-
Most VW parts are stuck on with Torx screws so well worth having a screwdriver set with these Torx head attachments

Nice Robin! I picked up a set of the Allen key ones from Screwfix for 4 pounds, but this kit you've got would have better leverage. I think I'll pop that on my Chrimbo list! :happy2:

^^^^
What's particularly useful about that Laser kit is that it can use a ratchet component and that it's all very compact.

That would have been most useful tonight. I fitted the new splitter, but it took me over an hour, as the allen keys didn't have the leverage to make it easy, especially as the torx heads were so rusty!

Im guessing it was just the centre part that was stolen then? - when i fitted the new colour coded main splitter to my bumper it took 5 mins to get the old one off, and well over an hour to get the new one on :signLOL: clipping that thing on is a proper pain :surprised:

Are you talking about the rear splitter/defuser?
The front splitter goes all the way across, and is held on to the underside plastic with 10 torx screws, 5 at front of unit, and 5 at the back.

The one at the front is made up of 2 parts that can be separated :happy2:

Part number 1 K 0 807 110 9B9
I take it this is the centre part, the rest ofit was intact. :happy2:
