Title: RCD510 without DAB
Post by: SeanMk5 on July 23, 2012, 02:32:21 am
Hey guys,

Alot of information here that's been very useful but just wanted to ask about the RCD 510.  I have a 57 plate Mk5 (first registered October 2007).  Is Oct 2007 late enough to not have any CANBUS issues if I install the RCD 510?  Currently have the RCD300.

Also, the main reason I am keen on the RCD 510 is so I can use an SD card.  Would it be possible to install the RCD510 (upgrade CANBUS if necessary) but not do anything with aerial so that it still receives AM/FM but not DAB? Or is it not as simple as that?

I've had a look through the thread but I'm without a search option at the moment (noob!) so just thought i'd ask and see if someone could help me out.

Cheers all!

Ok, realise that i can now buy the RCD510 with or without DAB capability.

So new question - if I buy it with DAB capability how tricky is it to add a DAB aerial?

You can have glass mounted dab aerial fitted. Works fine
