Made the decision after a lorry crashed into the drivers door of my Gti...got the car back fixed but it had no coilovers, standard wheels and the map was wiped off it when it returned so it wasn't any fun to drive at all!

Thats the same swap I hope to make someday. Is there much difference between the two?

yes!! the whole ride feels so much different! it feels a lot smoother and its just constant power, where as the Gti felt aggresive and you could feel the turbo built up between gears where as the R is just a constant pull. It feels alot better built aswel but i dunno if thats because after the crash i felt the Gti was a bit untable but that was probably all in my head. Although i loved the noise of the turbo spooling up and the dump valve nothing will make you smile as much as planting your foot and listening to the exhaust note on the R. Handling wise i have so much more confidence in the R, i can plant my foot in the wet weather and not wheelspin where as you know urself the Gti is a little bit slippery in the wet, it just feels more safe in wet weather going into corners etc, cant fault it so far. if you do make the switch you will love it

Need to stick a miltek on it mate
It's got a resonated Miltek on it bud :happy2:

Looks lovely mate, alway had the same itch of wanting an R over the gti but maybe one day ill change. 2 best colours anyway id say. Cant beat an R in DBP.
You keeping the R relativly standard or going same route as the gti with coilies etc?

Same route as the Gti mate I like my cars lowwwwww! Can't decide what wheels to get tho?
-
Perfect place too
EDIT
Plate!!

Cant go wrong with a set of CH's but guessing you might be looking for something different from what the gti had. BBS CK's in 19 and anthracite would be nice against the blue.
-
Lovely car but this thread isn't helping me!
Just got confirmation of a new job that means I'm doing about 5000 miles a year, so have upped my search for an ED30, but now the R32 has come up as an option.

Yeah somethin a wee bit different, not a big fan of the CH on the R, quite liking the new Golf R wheels but I don't know if u want to get some nice deep dish BBS rims, in 2 minds lol Lovely car but this thread isn't helping me!

Haha there's not much price difference between the R and ed30 aswel! Depends what route you want to go down, if you want power then the ed30 is so easy to tune unlike the R u need to spend silly money to get more power. Main reason I went for the R is the noise and the 4wd, got stuck in the snow about 6 times last year lol
