Welcome along!  :drinking:

You've had the same car for 12 years  :notworthy:. This Mk5 could be a long termer then?

Get yourself in a couple of GTI's (and ED30's), give them a try and decide for yourself, with DSG and manual. Everyone has there on preference on spec etc, so do yourself your own "wish list" and go from there. Hold out for the right one and you will be made up.  I waited 6 months to find my ideal car, but was worth it. If you do get one with a few things missing from your "wish list", just about everything can be retrofitted.

Cheers.   :happy2:

Welcome - from another Esse member  :driver:

Like the others say just buy the one (and type) that suits you most (budget, colour, spec etc) beacuse so long as you buy a decent one you will loooooove it!

And as most things can be retrofitted you will end up spending more time and money on here - and end up retrofitting even more things than you thought you wnated or needed  :rolleye:

Basildon.

More from Essex then I thought!

Hang in there, it took me 2-3months and was worth the wait. I had to travel 250 miles to get it as well. If your not to bothered about colour (apart from black) then you should have loads to choose from!! Therefore be really picky!

Cheers.

I bought a Candy White Edition 30 and wanted one from the start. I stuck by my guns and got exactly what i wanted. Mine to came from near Yorkshire (darlington). Red looks very nice, red being my 2nd favourite.

My personal opinion is a good car is worth travelling for but everyone is different. Before i looked at the car i phoned the bloke up and asked for every little detail and warned him that if the car wasnt as described then i simply wouldnt buy it. This will 'hopefully' prevent anybodies time and money being wasted.

i would love a white one but they command such a premium i like the grey,my mk1 was mars red (back in the day) just remember the colour fade and having to t cut it all the time i went from a beige mk4 cortina to the gti never looked back,by the way is yours a man or dsg?

But when red is clean it looks stunning!
Theres also not so many white ones about. Mines manual. I have nothing against DSG, its just i prefer manual.
What is it your after??

I would go out in one first, either passenger or driver. It would be a big mistake to buy a car with a gear box thats not for you. Most people that go for it now swear buy it though. Each to their own.

Welcome eltel i am from Thurrock, I drive a black ed30 which i have had for about 4 weeks.
i also had a 1.8T which I sold 2 years ago cos I thought the mileage was getting high at 90k+ !, but I loved this car..
my eddie is a DSG and absolutely love it, with the M mode you have got the choice of driving it a bit like a manual anyway.
like others have said, stick to your guns in the main, you can sacrifice a few things and retro-fit them yourself.
post what you are after in the Wanted forum and people will see what you are after, much better to buy from someone on here if poss !
there was someone on here who had a red one with most/all of the additional extras and was interested in selling but can't remember who now !
all the best with the search  :happy2:
