Hi all!
Previously had a mk4 gti and now moved on to a mk5. Thought I'd sign up to this site to tap the fountain of knowledge that no doubt exists here!
On the MOT of my new car there were a few things listed under the advisory section. Just wondered if anyone could give any advice on what they might mean?
1) Offside front constant velocity joint gaiter deteriorated, but preventing the ingress of dirt. - I am getting this replaced next week at a cost of 52.50 from a vw specialist. Does this sound reasonable?
2) H\LAMP AIM NSF##MAX
3) M;I;L Airbag
4) Engine covers fitted obscuring some components in the engine bay
Does anyone have any information on what they above may mean as well as potential fixes?
Also I've noticed my car doesn't appear to have an aerial yet my friends GTI does? Was this some kind of extra when purchasing the car from new?
Oh and here are some pictures. I'm very proud of her :)
Look forward to getting to know you all and thanks in advance
J

Welcome along!
Nice looking car you have friend! :drinking:
Is your car on a 55 plate or earlier? if so that's why there is no aerial, (someone will be along to correct me soon if I'm wrong), your aerial is integrated into the rear window elements. After that date they went to the roof mounted ones, either costs or reception I imagine.
Oh and it looks way better without an aerial IMHO.

Hi and cheers for the reply! My car is an 05 plate so I guess that explains it. I personally think it does look better without an aerial too.
I get a perfect signal on every station apart from Capital where there's a tiny bit of interference. Like you say I'm guessing costs probably came into it somewhere down the production line.

Lovely car. I have no idea about your errors but wanted to comment!

The back end was already like that when I got the car. I've never really done much modding myself, but if I were to mod the mk5 that rear was exactly what I'd have gone for. Knew I had to buy the car once I'd seen her!

Hi guys wonder if anyone can help me. I let the other half drive the car yesterday and she rolled forward when going to reverse and hit a kerb. There's now a crack in the i think it's called the front splitter (the grey bit on the bottom on the front of the car?)
Does anyone know if these can be repaired. Also I've noticed some people seem to have colour coded ones where as mine looks like fibreglass? Are these standard or have people bought aftermarket ones? Thinking I'd like to get the front colour coded!
Cheers.
