Title: What is the difference between the R32 and Golf GTI front bumpers?`

Hi All,

I have just bought an R32 front bumper on ebay but I am not sure what to do, I am not over keen on the silver grille piece that sits in the middle so can I swap it out for a GTI grille?

No mate you can't as they are completley different,the R32 grill is one piece and the lower grill's are not the same either,if you have noticed the R32 has no front fog's. :surprised:

You could always paint it black. I think it looks good when that's been done to an r32 grill.

Are the GT and GTI bumpers the same ? Could i change the GT inserts or the GTI honeycomb ones ?

I'm sure the GT had a face lift at some point, and I think the GTI grills will only fit one of them (I'm thinking the pre-face lift).

Although I'm not 100% on this so maybe wait for confirmation form others.

OK, now I am really confused, below is the image of the bumper I have the bought, it was advertised as an R32 bumper.

After asking the original question I went and found lots of pictures of GTI front bumpers, two of which I have posted below.

The only conclusion I can come to is that the item was incorrectly advertised as an R32 bumper when it is actually a GTI bumper or the bumpers are identical, I have checked every little slot and hole on the picture of my bumper against the GTI bumpers and they look exactly the same.

Can anyone tell me if the bumper in the first picture is a GTI bumper or one off an R32

This si not r32 bumper...U can see on the lower side of the bumper that something need's to be added, and that is gti lip or edition 30 lip.alsow the centre piece is different.
I think u will be able to put gti grills on that bumper. :happy2:

You have made my day although I do have to say, the more I look at pictures of R32 bumpers on ebay and the web the more I feel they look one and the same with the GTI bumper.

do u see the difference now, between gti and r32...

And yes, many sellers , alsow here in Slovenia, they seel gti bumpers, as r32look, because they think if front grill is cromed, that it's r32...

like this (  http://www.avto.net/_OPREMA/ad.asp?ID=5769502 )  , it is selling as r32 front bumper, but it's NOT!!
