Title: turbo discharge pipe
Post by: edd666999 on August 05, 2012, 05:36:13 pm
Does anyone have pictures of the standard gti turbo discharge pipe next to the k04 discharge pipe?

No pics but the metal part of both are identical.
Where they differ is the size of the outlet that attaches to the turbo (k04 larger than k03) and corresponding silicone/rubber tubing.

Only way I can see this happening is if you bought one of APR's new k04 stealth turbos.
Do you have the relocated dv hosing visible in the engine bay as if you do then you'll not have the APR turbo.

Here you go matey.

The one on the left is k04 with the red piping and much larger opening. The one from the k03 will fit the k04 as the mounting points are the same, just you will have less air flow. I'd get under the car and see if you have the black silicone pipe as thats prob the only way to tell without taking the whole pipe off.  :happy2:

I am fairly certain a k03 discharge pipe would not bolt up to the k04 turbo outlet as the dimensions and bolt holes placement appear different.

I'm a little confused here also. You paid a garage to K04 convert your car and despite you giving them a K04 discharge pipe the used your existing K03 pipe.

Are you sure they actually fitted the K03?

Thats the metal bit i have connected to my turbo, the k04 discharge pipe doesnt go into that, the k03 one does, so i need to swap that metal connector for the k04 part.

Just checking but are you sure it's "f" in that part number as the TSI injector has a part number 06H 906 036G.

I get the feeling I was the 1st, don't think I took it to some backstreet garage though! Put it this way, they post on here.

So my car now has no misfires, spools quicker and no funny noises.

I had the turbo sent to them though so they fitted what I sent and thought the discharge pipe was not needed.

I never saw the turbo either.

....it doesn't seem too obvious that something is broken

Service doesn't sound fastastic though. I'm about the go the same route as you, so am itching to ask you to name the tuner, but can understand that issues may need to be resolved with your tuner and negotiations may be currently ongoing....

Cheers for the offer mate. Would be a quite a trek as I'm based in the south east.

Would be good to see your car and get your feedback at a big meet or RR session at some point in the future.

Really hope it is all sorted soon  :happy2:

Ask Gazon69 about his K04 conversion car we built him before Inters this year , he managed 3rd in class behind us and a totally stripped lightweight Ed30 , its a very very fast car indeed If the conversion is carried out right inc good software then a beast is born !!  :happy2:
