recently saw a members car that had 30% tints on the back and 50% on the front.
looked really nice as the 50% was nice and subtle so you could still see in and i dont like the look of cars that have a dark rear and then clear front looks silly imo.
so can you do 50% tints on the front and not upset the local constabulary or is it treading a dangerous path??
-
The fronts have to let in 70% of the light and the windscreen 75%.
So I'd say no.
Are you sure they weren't the other way round?
-
Nick 'Keano' on here is the pro tinter :happy2:
-
Any additional tint on the front and your running the risk of having your pants pulled down by the 5-0!
-
thats what i thought rich.
carl i think 50% is the lightest you can have, with 5% being limo dark?
-
IMO the OEM privacy glass is perfect, becuase it looks dark from outside but visibility is not effected from inside the car. :happy2:
-
:P
I used to stock 70% but you could barely tell it was there.
The lower the percentage, the darker the tint. The % represents the amount of light that passes through the tint.
I'm out of that game now though :sad1:

HOw come nick?
-
ps. this is 50% on the fronts. Not sure I'd do it again tbh! :scared:

Nope the front side window has to let in 70% of the light.
See here
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/AdviceOnKeepingYourVehicle/DG_181016
Or in short.
The law requires that the windows on the vehicle allow at least:
- 75 per cent of light through the front windscreen
- 70 per cent of light through the front side windows
In most modern vehicles there is a slight tint added to the windows when they are made. If you add any more tint it’s likely to result in the windows failing to meet the legal requirements.
The rules on tinted windows don’t apply to the rear windscreen or the rear passenger windows.

ok ta carl, will leave the front well alone then
