Title: Anyone repaired their leather drivers seat???
Post by: monte on August 12, 2012, 09:05:06 am
Some of you may remember years ago I was considering getting my drivers seat repaired.
I had damage to the right hand side bolsters.
The one next to my right butt cheek needs repacking, but worst of all the one higher up next to my waist, has now worn a small hole through the leather, and some of the stitching has worn away.

Has anyone had this sort of repair work done?

Any recommendations?

Anyone know a rough cost of these repairs?

This really needs to be my next job to sort out. It's getting quite bad.  :sad1:

I'll take some pics later.  :happy2:

Carlo, mines exactly the same and i intend on putting this on my next 'to do' list. There is a guy who has a unit about a mile from where i live in sheffield who's work is meant to be sh*t hot. I will go down and see him and get a price from him. If you could send me any pics of the work you require i wall also enquire for you as well. Cheers Gaz

I know Seat Surgeons are quite highly regarded for Re-Trims. Not sure if they do repairs though.

Not sure on repairs but I know when mine got broken into I got told that the OEM leather for both front seats and steering wheel came to nearly £2k. As the seats were not repairable I got new ones. So if you call a steering wheel from VW £400 then the leather was about £800 per seat

I'm sure my seat bolster's been like that for around 20k miles. The side bolster is less worn than yours.

I know this is not ideal but has anyone used this stuff?

http://www.plastidip.co.uk/eStore/index.cfm?type=Home_Solutions/VLP&stage=1

Do you think it will do more damage than good?

I'm def gonna get it done professionally, but I'm hoping to get it done around Christmas time if poss!
Then I can leave the seat with the repairer for a month, while I'm in Italy.  :happy2:

Gene, I'm gonna contact the guys in Harrogate tomorrow
