As above car seems to be fine other than on idle it sometimes feels fine then others it feels like its miss firing on idle, You can feel it jerk in the car & if you lift the bonnet up you can see the engine jerk at the same time.
Car has stage 2+ but had to take the forge dv off which we thought was causing the problem as it was stuck open (even though this has been serviced too!) & we put the standard rev d that the car came with on. Am sure the car still had this bad idle after replacing the plugs before but has got worse over time. It has also had the update before & after the new revo file.
Any ideas? or people had the same problem? as I dont want to pay for new plugs, new rev g dv or even coilpack if it wont solve the problem.
Also car has pcv blank plate fitted so wont be the pcv.

have you scanned it mate?

Hi mate, I have exactly the same problem with mine
Mine is due a service in about 4K so am waiting to see whether that resolves the issue, as u mentioned it may be the spark plugs? Funny thing is though she drives beautifully over and above the misfire at idle, very smooth.
What new Revo file?? :scared:
-
have you scanned it mate?
Ye pretty sure they scanned it too & said it was showing nothing, Been doing it a few months now & its gradually got worse
-
Check the plugs are tight.
Log blocks 15 and 16 at idle once the car is warm and this will count the missfires.

I had a pesky misfire on cyl 3

Told you how to stop it Phil, Put it back to stock
All the uprated fuel pump tuned Vag DFi's do it mine too, some are worse than others ,you won't ever stop it I guarantee you, the more you look for it the more you'll feel it, most people are oblivious to it and just drive
Jump in a stock S3 same year as yours, it won't do it (as bad) or noticeably as bad as its softened off
Combination of things in my opinion , uprated fuel pump & altered fuel maps regards the tuning, 3 inch zorst and Your Uprated engine mounts don't help
There are no issues to resolve apart from the mentioned
Or you could by that silky smooth 1M you've been talking about :happy2:

Constantly counting at idle, then intermittent on boost getting to the point it was all the time

Phils car has no load issues that im aware of just idle and it's not really an issue, but I Know he likes refinement which is understandable, maybe a C63 would be better than the 1M :happy2:
Mike how the hell are you posting everywhere at once, I'm dizzy!! :rolleye:

Hmm see thing is it didnt used to do it 3 months ago, Then it started but not that noticable then over the last few months has got worse like the car is going to cut out when in traffic which it didnt used to do at all. Yes with my engine mounts ive always had vibrations in the car but like said it didnt used to do this & you can hear in the exhaust & seen with the bonnet open that it sounds like its going to cut out when sat still. The standard dv may be f*cked like you said but id rather try one on then buy one & it not be the problem, It was also still doing it after my last plug change. So leaves me to think it could be the below.
Standard DV
Coilpack
Airleak
Rear PCV as my front has the BSH blank plate
Or something else which I aint sure about
If it did it since I had gone stage 2+ id think its normal but like I said it started 3-4 month ago & now its bad.

Unplug maff to eliminate air leaks Phil
If its as bad as going to stall then sounds like it could be unmetered air
Just run it with the maf unplugged next week and see
How'd you get on at the stealers did they admit guilt ??

Mines always had a slight stutter every so often sat at the traffic lights on idle, only notice it every now and again when the car has a little judder. Never seen it as a problem as the car runs smooth as you like when up and moving. If it was misfiring when pulling in gear then id be bothered.
P.s steve probably looking like september before i can get in, might have WMI fitted at the same time depending on funds. If i do ill be going for a 2.5 gallon baffled tank though, none of these 2 litre fill up every other day tanks

Ill try the maf this week, Goes to Audi for the downchange squeak investigating in 2 week but they paid the invoice  Then its just to sort this idle out then I might actually keep the car & spend some more money on it if I can find the problem
-
Hiya Bobby!! You've surfaced
Kirkys used to be really bad At this much worse than mine, but mine does deffo stutter
Suppose you could say it might be the inlet valves sh*tting up but then again mine wouldn't do it if it was that??
I still think its the uprated pumps & pump maps that contribute towards it,
Pm me a confirmed date Rob and I'll get you booked in
I'm itching to squeeze a 2+ car on the dyno with our meth kit !!
You can run the bigger tank but remember it doesn't leave much room in the boot for a body
-
Ahhh you never said that bring it back up and I'll grease all the nipples hah!!
Seriously did it only make this noise after the rack was fitted ?
I still think its the Downpipe after they forgot to bolt the dog bone up ( or a mouse that's shacked up with ya ) :signLOL:
-
I had the same problem too.
I had a constant misfire on idle. It was like this for a few weeks and it started to get worse. Got in it one day and put my foot down and the engine light came on and was flashing. Drove it to garage and they I had a misfire on cylinder 3. had loads of problems trying to sort it as there were so many reasons it could have been doing it. Had the MAF changed and that didn't help.
Few guys on here said it could be a bad injector. Had it changed and was absolutely perfect for about 3 days. Misfire is back again... not as bad this time but when I put my foot down, it is absolutely perfect. It's just on idle now and its so frustrating as it feels like the car is slightly rocking and the motion of it actually makes me feel sick sometimes lol
I'm thinking of just booking my car in with Alex from AKS tuning to try sort this out once and for all. Cos its doing my head in now.
Hope you get yours sorted.
-
Alex logged the missfires on my car, it would constantly do it on idle but not at any other time.
It doesn't bother me

I said it when I picked it up mate :signLOL: I dont know but its got to a point I notice it & so do others. Will see how I get on with Audi first

Well I have the tfsi in my A4 b8 and I have just spent. Small fortune trying to sort out an intermittent idle judder. Did the decoke, full service, full diagnostics. Everything. No fault codes, no recorded misfires.
So the shop got a very complex vibration meter in it. Turns out that its the standard mapped idle fuelling strategy for this engine. Some do it more than other. Mine judders the seat and has had me pi**ed of now for over a year. Si I decided to tackle it or ell the darn thing.
So, that's what it is. To prove the theory we then hooked up a mk5 gti to the same vibration meter. On the graph the exact same trace came up. And it could be felt in the cabin too, although less intense presumably cos its transverse.
Anyway, thats it. So until VWAG come up with a patch you re probably stuck with it. Or sell it............

Could it be the low fuel pressure pump in the fuel tank?
