What is a USA spec rear bumper???

Post by: matt a on November 21, 2008, 05:18:30 pm
Thanks for the comment, have a few more plans for it before UD09, including refurbed BBS and custom brake paint. :)

USA specification bumper, basically an American/Japanese rear bumper, which accommodates their square format plates:

Matt I suggest you edit out your plate number.

Thanks, but I don't really see the point of editing out my plate, tbh. If it's against T&Cs then i'll happily do it.

Fitted the P-Flo, wasn't too difficult, but tricky at times.

I also decided to remove the piss poor "Neuspeed" sticker which was on the pipe work.

Picture of the sheltered work area.

has the engine cover got no chance of fitting back on? does it need major work or minor trimming?

looks great mate. any news on effectiveness? is that part of the engine bay or for temperature?
Title: Re: My MK5 GTI...
Post by: matt a on November 26, 2008, 11:47:18 pm
Thanks TC

has the engine cover got no chance of fitting back on? does it need major work or minor trimming?

There's not much chance of fitting the standard cover back on as its an integral part of the original intake system, and as such I dont want to butch my own cover. I had thought about separating the top from the bottom, and seeing what modification would be required.

As for performance gains, it does feel slightly more responsive, and seems to pull harder (but this is maybe a kind of placebo effect?), the noise is significantly different and you can hear the turbo spool more.

The other gain is on mpg which has risen between 3-6 depending on diving style.

My overall impression is good, it would have been nice if the cover could be on, and if it had come with an air intake to channel the cold air towards the filter.

Does it give any form of 'growl' noise?

Does it give any form of 'growl' noise?

you could put part of the intake back on the car ie the bit that goes on the grill as it will still push air that way

Yeah I had considered that at the time, but it points slightly in the wrong direction, I'm sure it could be adapted though.

Had a meet today at The Big Lamp Brewery, Newcastle. Spent from 8.30am - 11am cleaning it, and switching the the fog grilles to the R-Line ones.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg210.imageshack.us%2Fimg210%2F4792%2Fimg0009fe1.jpg&hash=81cf5194c77c490faa394a9c06fa061163038d3c)

I should point out I drove 50 miles to get there, so the car was that clean.

Current mods:

Eibach coilovers
R-Line grilles
USA Rear bumper

Yeah, I'm really pleased with the results from the Canon G10, (F6.3, 1/250).

I had cleaned the car earlier in the day, then driven the 40 miles, I guess I was lucky it still looked okay.

Not sure if people are interested in the shoe string modders, but here is what i've been up to lately:

Bought 2x BBS CH 8X18 ET44, and 2x BBS CH 7.5X18 ET54, both pairs Audi OEM.

So...

Made a start on the wheels, kinda happy, kinda not.

Primed:

I don't sorry, it is a Ford colour but Halfords version, I do know it's a new Ford colour, so a trip to your local dealership should do the trick.

The colour is very much like the black used on the new ipod nano, bit of purple/blue in there.
