Title: R32 Rear Bumper & R32 style back box
Post by: Kalpsn2000 on August 15, 2012, 04:12:39 pm
I am looking to get the R32 rear bumper for my GTI and I will be changing the back box to the centre twin pipes so looking for a genuine standard R32 bumper.

How much are these at the dealers?

Any other recommended places to buy it?

Thanks

Wont fit mate as the pipe work takes a different route because of the haldex system on the r32, only way is custom, milltek or bcs. :happy2:

Yeah was pretty sure R32 back box wouldn't fit. I will be getting a R32 style back box.

Currently looking for a genuine R32 rear bumper. How much is the dealers price? Or anyone got the part number so I can check with the dealers?

Although if anybody could also recommend where to get a R32 style back box that would be great (have see the miltek at a couple of places but very expensive).

^^^

Looking great mate :happy2:  Although I would prefer the tail pipes to sit flush with the bumper.

I am keeping an eye on that ebay link but wanted to know how much a new one costs from the dealers.

Cheer's bud!Just the lower exhaust trim from the dealer's is around £120 so the R32 lower half bumper section may be quite a bit more,I would think around the £300-£350 mark primed and then getting it painted and fitted ain't gonna be cheap,I got lucky on here and managed to get my bumper in the same coulour as my car so put it straight on!

Which back box you got JStav & StephenED30?

Also i'm not sure whether to get res or non-res? I think I need to hear them.

I should have a black one for sale soon, doesn't have the reflectors so you will have to buy them, but after about £230 for it. :happy2:

Where are you based Al?

I have non-res Milltek cat-back and its not intrusive at all, a lot quieter than the equivalent system for the Leon Cupra!

We'll see how much louder it is with the pre-cat removed  :happy2:

BCS on mine, more than happy with it but did go for the quieter system with 2 silencers.  :happy2:

Sanj I have heard and seen some pics of the Miltek back box sticking out below the bumper. Do you have any pics from lower down directly behing the car? Can you see the back box sticking out?

Although I have also read that Miltek reduced the size of the back box recently. Anyone know if this is true?

Hello, yes the back box doe's stick out a a fair bit and you can clearly see the back box when looking in line with it,but what did it for me was the tip's were the latest jet style and were bigger than a normal R32 and I had a milltek exhaust on already so I needed only the rear silencer,I prefer it this way but you're right with regard's to the back box being quite low,i'll see if I can take a pic later, you'd be better to get one made from a good exhaust place to suit your need's and it would be half the price, mine was £450 just for the R32 style back box from awesome GTI,that was with a discount and a wait of 2 month's! :surprised:

^^^ Ok so that moves the Milltek's down the list for me. Although do really love the tail pipes :happy2:

Anyone recommend a place to get a custom exhaust? I'm based in NW London.

BCS is a bit far from me but could be an option.

StephenED30 how does your compare to the stock exhaust in terms of sound? I’m looking for something that is a bit louder than stock but not too much.

I am looking at doing the same thing. Not sure that I would want to see the pipes sticking past that far.
The red edition 30 exhaust fit looks spot on.

Out of interest how much is the cat back on that?

I have been quoted in the region of £600.00 for the milltec

Did a review on it here,

http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,35697.0.html

I’m more than happy with the sound it makes as mine was the first one that BCS did. It is slightly louder than stock but you can hardly tell any different on the motorway. As for price its best to contact Nigel or Dave at

 http://www.bcsautomotive.co.uk/

I’m sure they will help you out.  :happy2:

I'll drop them a message.

P.S. My drive would be about the same as yours :happy2:
