At the moment im running the autotech pump which has Its problems with fuel and oil mixtures through either trapped fuel at the stepped shoulder or seal failure due to worn seals or bad fitting .
But when im thinking about it ive always noticed that when people change the cam follower when using the autotech it always looks brand new.
Having used the APR fuel pump on my first Gti for over 20k, i had to change the follower twice (it had a fair bit of ware) i was just wondering if anyone else found this with the APR pump could it be the stiffer spring that apr use or do they use a harder material for the shaft ?

.
Subscribed as I have the APR fuel pump but have only done ~2k miles on it so far. :happy2:
I've heard that it's good practice to check your cam follower more often if you have an aftermarket HPFP.

afaik the APR pump uses an uprated spring vs standard.
The rate of wear on your cam follower also depends on if you use alot of high rpm when driving and the actual rail pressure of your fuel system.

I have used my APR pump for 61.000km and haven't had to change the follower yet. I think it depends on the cam revision and what state it is in when the pump is fitted. It's just as relevant how the follower looked that was in the car before the uprated pump.
But i can't fault my APR pump

Ah good point danish never thought about that, i take you mean that the old follower if worn has possibly started to ware the cam and therefore will always transfer back to the follower as the cam is marked !
Ive always had the newest revision follower fitted and its still scrubbed it, with the apr pump. that was with a k03 aswell.

I've had my apr pump for around 500miles...I also been advised by jkm to change the cam follower while the pump is getting changed

exactly :happy2: :drinking:
If the wear on the cam has already been started it's a point of no return i'm afraid :sad1:

....Exactly the same advice which JKM gave me when installing my APR pump. I took their advice of course.
