Title: SuperPro lower arms
Post by: Tfsi_Mike on August 20, 2012, 10:38:55 pm

Any word? Release date? Retail prices?

I'd be interested in swapping the TT lower arms if I dont have to flog a testicle.

no adjustable ball joint?

so what advantage to these confer over TT arms?

The superpro ones will have adjustable ball joints.

They will be properly designed for the car whereas the tt arms are a bit of a compromise.  They have improved handling but due to the geometry of them and extra width have given me clearance headaches

Ant reviews backing this up Mike?
They are designed for the TT as well

looking at the photos Mike, it doesn't look like the ball joints will be adjustable. can this be run with a WALK, or is it meant to be as an alternative to a WALK?

Hmmm,

I already have improved roll centre with the tt arms, just think they don't work quite right on the Leon due to the wheel sitting further forward In the arch causing contact.  :sad1:

Mike did get much rubbing before changing the arms? and do you get much rubbing in normal spirited road driving or just on the track? The reason I ask is that I get quite a bit of rubbing going around the bends at the front of the arch on the track with std arms, but hardly anything on the road. Just thought that it might not be the arms??? Either way if you find a solution let me know 'cos I'm finding it a right PITA as well!!

On std arms I was lower and even under spirited driving had no contact.

With the arms and raised on contact on corners on track was constant.
Improved since Alex had a fettle but on corners and even dips/ compressions in the road and spirited driving.

At my wits end!

There's a good chance the ground control top mounts will help stop it as they don't sag as much as oem ones.
Hope you get sorted mate too, I'll to remember to update you

@ jimbo

Forgot to add I think it's more of a problem on the Leon than the golf due to the Leon's arches

seems the aussies have had 'em for a while

and there's quite a few on ebay

http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l2736&_nkw=Super+Pro+Lower+Control+Arms+ (http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l2736&_nkw=Super+Pro+Lower+Control+Arms+)

you just have to get them shipped from Oz, for $550 (approx £364 before shipping & duty) it doesn't seem too bad, and maybe I can get my bro' to send some over, might be a bit cheaper

which bit?? I'm from perth originally, moved here in '97. Oh and I also got a price back for shipping.....$235 which is a bit steep. It weighs 8kgs, I'm sure you can ship it for less than half that

Price for the arms would be £499 plus vat.  They do have adjustable plates at the ball joints.  Group buy on the arms anyone?

Are the TT arms alot longer than the standard arms?

I'm guessing the SuperPro arms wont cause the same probs as Mikes TT ones?

from what I've read the superpro arms incorporate their own version of WALK. check out this page from the ozzie golf forum. They sound pretty good.

....Yes I know that SuperPro have their own version of WALK and that it's reportedly very good and possibly better. But I already have WALK fitted and they don't need replacing, hence my question.

The arms only come with their own bushes already fitted.

just had a look at how the box of parts arrives and it seems that the arms and bushes/ALK arrive as seperate parts. Alex I'm not sure if the superpro arm would fit the WALK and then you could sell the superpro ALK? although I've heard the superpro kit is a better piece of kit so maybe selling the WALK is the better option?

this is a pic of what comes in the box

Looking at the picture it looks like the part of the arm going inside the bushes is larger than stock, so i would say no the walk won't fit. If i was superpro i would make my arms specific to my own products, it's common business sense IMO

Imagine what that black paintwork is going to look like after it gets stone chipped etc etc.

If the SuperPro 'ALK' consoles fit OEM arms (which we know they do) and the WALK consoles also fit OEM arms (which we know they do), then surely the SuperPro arms will fit the WALK consoles too. The male/female and location points for fixing have to be common to each. Don't they?

I agree Robin but i think the Superpro lower arms can only be bought with their ALK bushes. but i guess you could then sell these on seperately.

....In which case, one might as well sell on the WALK's and use the whole SuperPro kit as designed (and also avoid any potential warranty issues). Not that I feel any need to spend more money on my car's handling which I find much more than adequate.

That's your best bet Robin.  Use the whole Superpro kit.

I think the inner part of the ALK is bonded to the arms.

Still not seen a pic of the camber plates.

Could do another group buy at 20% off for 5 people or more?

....Hmm, I'm not convinced that they would be such a fantastic addition to my particular car and the suspension and handling mods it already has. Plus my financial circumstances have changed and I can no longer afford trackdays. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't benefit from them on the road as a car doesn't actually know whether it's on road or track, but I always try to drive within both my car's and my own limits.

So to help others who might be considering this mod, just what are the benefits?

And also what benefits to my car which has WALK (which would be replaced), KW-V3 coilovers, Eibach ARB's, UNIbrace XB & UB, AP brakes, Quaife diff, VWR engine mounts, and SuperPro rear bushes?

Bump... Any update on these? My front suspension bushes need doing and I am toying with the idea of these as I am planning on going the super pro anti-lift route any way and like the idea of the reduced unsprung weight. Although the alternative would be super pro bushes on the standard arms and a bilstein b12 kit.... Hmmm choices
