So as per the title I'm thinking about putting an induction kit on my ED 30 but not entirely sure which one, anyone got any info to share on the experiences with them, or anyone with a ed 30 got an induction kit on and love it or hate it?
Opinions please guys

Forum search will give you everything you need on Intakes, most on here will tell you either Forge Twintake or ITG/VWR Maxogen Maxi-price intake.
Reckon you will get the following
45% saying ITG (Sounds like Darth Vader but performs well)
45% saying twintake (slightly quieter than Vader but has shiny carbon for under bonnet Magpies)
10% other models Dbilis/K&N/AWE/etc (I have the sold in USA only Volant Powercore on my ED30), half the price of the most popular and gives very similar (if not same) results.
Good luck with which you decide on.
-
Have you got any other mods on the car?
Remap maybe? Just an induction kit on its own wont make much difference.
However if you do go for one i belive either the Forge twintake or the ITG maxogen are the ones to go for. Forge one provides some eyecandy too

I haven't had a remap as of yet but both these mods will be coming soon.

And sub39h isn't the only one to have that opinion about the BSH.
I'm not at all trying to sell you on the idea of getting a Forge Twintake - There are others just as good - But you may find some helpful information in your choice in reading my review thread (and other reviews in the Product Reviews section):

I've had the Twintake and currently running an Evoms. On my car (KO4), the Twintake didn't make very good gains, was advised to try a different intake, went for the Evoms and am much happier with it, much better results. However, my bf has the Twintake on his GTI (KO3) and that gained about 16-17bhp, so based on my experience I'd recommend the Twintake for GTI's but not so much Ed30s etc. Might just be my car though that didn't take to it... :happy2:
-
Forge wintake and revo CAI out soon. I'm waiting to see these before I decide on mine. :happy2:

Thanks for that I'm now totally torn on what to do, glad I have a while to think about this

New ITG/APR/VWR enclosed maxogen.

Im running revo stage1 on my edtion30 and wanted to improve on my map. I wanted good gains and some more intake/turbo noise. After reading pretty much every induction kit review I settled on the ITG Maxogen kit as reviewed here > http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,9698.0.html
After installing the kit I noticed a definite improvement in not only good gains , but the extra noise/turbo chatter is just brilliant. I would recomend this kit for sure :happy2:
-
I had a evoms fitted today at JKM.
Pulls like a train! And the turbo chatter is awesome (if that's your thing)
Plus it looks better than the itg which IMO is a bit messy.
I also had a look at every review on the fourm and others.
The only ones to go for are evoms/itg/twin intake
Stage 1 eddy.

I posted some pics of the Volant Powercore intake fitted to my car here:- http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,43434.120.html look at page 9 onwards :happy2:
It's going on YOUR car mate, you need to decide which YOU prefer based on performance/looks/ease of fitment etc.
I chose Volant PC as the Twintake and Maxi-price are like dog nuggets in the local park , wanted something different and more OEM looking (If thats your thing), ugly looking and noisy go ITG, Semi-Noisy and shiny go twintake, wanna be different get something else :happy2:
:popcornsoda:
-
Evoms all the way fella, looks the best imo and gives about the best gains. Also isn't ridiculously priced. P.s i've had most of the intakes mentioned and if i was in the market for another intake it would be the evoms. :happy2:
-
Forge wintake and revo CAI out soon. I'm waiting to see these before I decide on mine. :happy2:
....The Forge Wintake is a single pipe version of their Twintake. It is expected to be about £100 cheaper and also to deliver less performance gains than the Twintake. I currently don't know any specific bhp values.
I hope that the Revo intake isn't a rebadged BSH intake!! Revo used to 'be in bed with' ITG but I've lost track of which tuner is 'sleeping with' who.

I believe ITG/VWR are in bed with APR, stick a VWR badge on and a 50% price increase, beyond a joke

Wow! Thanks for all the replies, looks like I have quite a task on my hands to decide which one to choose I will keep you's all up to date on what I choose
-
^^^^
Yep, there's a few to choose from!
This 'checklist' of preferences (not in order of importance) may help you decide which is best for you:
- Performance
- Standard of manufacture
- Ease of maintenance
- Sound
- Appearance aka 'Eye-Candy'
- Price
You don't have a forum signature which says what car you are running.... Twintake reported to deliver more gains on the K03 than the K04 turbo, for example.
-
I'm another one for EVOMS i'm afraid :notworthy:

Not just yours Mandy.
I agree though, twin take is good on the K03 GTI's not so good on the K04's.
The filters are much too restrictive on the K04's, I'd even go as far to say a pipercross panel filter would be better!

And how do I get a forum signature sorry for being such a noob

....You don't have to have one and it need not be about your car but it is a good way for others to see and relate to what you are posting about sometimes and saves you repeating the info every time.
This explains how: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,945.0.html
