Driving home from work. M25 was screwed so i went via dorking. Thank god i did, i was sitting in traffic and went to set off when it sarted moving but it turned out the car had stalled. Went to restart and the starter didnt want to turn as if the battery was flat.gave it a couple more tries and then let the car roll on to the grass verge. Called the mrs to see if she could get me... After i hung up i gave it another go and it started up as normal!? There was a wierd whining noise for a couple seconds then it stopped.
Any ideas on what the hell just happened?

hard too tell could be anything. was there any smoke coming from the exhaust by any chance?

Nah there wasnt any smoke or anything like that

Had something very similar when I had my gti. Turned out to be the fuel sensor. Also the exhaust emissions light came on.

Failed coilpack?
You don't say what car your problem is on.

Ah my bad. Its a 2005 gti. Engine managment light is now on! Damn it. If theres anyone in surrey area who could do me a scan id be most grateful

I ask because now we know it's a 2005 GTI there's an increased liklihood it could be a failed coilpack and you should know that you can get them replaced free of charge by VW if they are older than a particular version. That's assuming your car hasn't already had them updated.

Sounds like the low pressure fuel sensor. Get it checked on vagcom. It's intermittent and does get worse, so get it checked out :)
It used to stall my DSG all the time :scared:
