Title: Service due soon - have i missed anything?
Post by: richtung on August 24, 2012, 08:25:18 am
Morning guys,

About to book the the ED30 in for a major service at an Indy, its 5 years old and on 48k miles.

For the full / major service, the main bits to be changed are:

Filters - air, pollen and oil. (fuel filter changed last year)
Oil change (Castrol Edge 5w 30)
Spark Plugs
Sun roof rail/guides lubricated
Top up fluids
full inspection

Extras:

Air con Service
Brake fluid change   (both last done 2 years ago)

Is there anything i have missed out that may need doing or should consider doing whilst in the garage?

Thanks

Rich

Cam Follower. 25 quid part, half hour to fit, and could cost four figures if it fails apparently. Got mine done at last service.

New plugs?

Could possibly check PCV and diverter valve for leaks, unless you've done this yourself?

Also make sure they don't "wash" your car.

Sorry just noticed you're going to an Indy so they won't wash it presumably.

Good shout on the PCV and diverter valve! Will ask him to check

I did the Rev D DV as well. I did what you're doing, got the whole lot done at the same time. All knowledge learnt and shared on this brilliant forum  :happy2:

Totally agree!!  :happy2:

Is this just a visual check?
sounds daft but is the PCV valve and Diverter valve their actual names or are they called something different on the VW parts system / ETKA?

DV is a remove & visual inspection. PCV - I think the same, where you can see if the internal flap is broken. Don't worry the Indy will know what to look for!

I think Etka calls the DV a "cut-off valve", but don't quote me on that. Not sure about PCV.
