Yep while changing my head gasket they have snapped a bolt off in the head....

 What are the implications??

I'm a bit pissed off as its been there a week now! and not going to be ready till Tuesday now,

 Sad face indeed!
-
Oh that's not good, depends where it's snapped, if it's snapped flush to the engine block then it's drill the bolt shaft and helicoil , not easy as they are toughened bolts.
if its sheared not flush then a stud extractor could still save the day. Either way, drilling with the head off the engine with lots of metal swarf is not good with an opened up engine :sad1:
not a job to be rushed

Or there is a process called Spark erode, but that would be engine out, fully stripped down and done that way.. But not sure that method is still used today..
-
This is making me as snapped as the dam bolt!!

They said its sheered off : (

That's all they said but I'm hoping they do a good job of sorting it out! Can't believe all this after thinking it was a simple coolant leak!

Hopefully they won't get anything in the engine and they give it a good oil change and it comes back all sorted!
-
I would be happy if they did that and stripped it all down and cleaned it all out! : )

-
Are they use once stretch hea dbolts on these engines?

-
I'm not sure they said they've got all new bolts to put in?

-
Well some monkey has overtighten it then... I'd be onto VW UK just incase...

I am scepticle though bu knowing delaers they probably tried to use the old ones... either torqued used, or overtightened new.. it wouldn;t just snap.
-
Probably snapped when it was being removed, nothing you could do about that really.

-
I'm sure the work will be warranted for a while so I wouldn't worry to much
